Tight Neck??

I've a 22 PPC with a tight neck--0.245." It has a custom action/barrell.

How big a job is to ream to standard size--0.246?"

How do I find a competent BR gunsmith to do the job?

If you want a no-turn chamber, I think it will need to be opened to at least .252" for use with Lapua 220 russian brass.

According to the 7th Ed Hornady Reloading Manual, the OD of the neck of a Sako 6mm PPC Reformed case for the 22 PPC measures .246". If your casing's neck walls are .013" thick and uniform, then a chamber cut to .250" would give you .002" of room around the sides of your casing neck. A chamber neck cut to .246", as you asked about, would give you no room between the casing neck and the inside neck walls of your chamber. Just my 2¢ and you got what you paid for. :D

Lapua brass with a wall of .015 and a OD of .254 makes the ID .224 give or take. You would need a chamber neck of .256. A neck reamer could be used to open the neck size for a no turn neck using this brass.
