Ti Suppressor Question

So let's say a person has a Ti suppressor that, for what ever reason, is not threaded properly or has warped or been tweaked somehow so it doesn't thread on straight.

Can a replacement end cap be made from common stainless steel to replace the problem one? If so what stainless should be used?

Asking for a friend.

Thanks.

Jim

I'd use 304 stainless. Machines wonderfully.... I've made a few end caps.. But I'd still search for a commercial one that's been properly treated.

I'd use 17-4 over 304. It does better with heat and has an overall higher hardness, even in it's annealed state.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject.

The can will not be subjected to excessive heat from mag dumps. It is on a hunting rifle and will likely see only one round, maybe two at a time.

Can an end cap be machined from 304 or 17-4 and work without being heat treated or annealed?

Thanks.

Jim

I have some 304 end caps. 304 is SUPER easy to machine. For your purposes anything will work honestly.

Country is right though. 17-4 is tougher, but harder to machine.
