Thumler's Tumbler Model B High Speed Belt Equivalent O- Ring Size

Hi, All -

From a previous post, I noted that I was having prblems with Thumler's Tumbler Model B Hi-speed belts breaking all too frequently. The replacement belts are $5-$6 a pop, so this was getting expensive. I went on the search for the equivalent o-ring size in hopes of getting both a cheaper and longer lasting belt.

I measured a new replacement belt and researched the matter. It appears the standard o-ring size is number .343 with the following dimensions:

O-ring Size: 3 3/4"ID X 4 1/8"OD X 3/16"CS

I ordered several ethylene propylene o-rings in this size. I'm told this composition resists stretching. They were 80 cents apiece. After my first tumble using these o-rings, I can report they fit perfectly on my tumbler and works no different than the replacement belt.

Time will tell how long this o-ring will last with continous use.

I hope this info helps. I haven't seen this info concerning equivalent o-ring size anywhere else.

thanks for the info. Where did you order them from?
Sure, Jay -

Here is the web page to the exact ethylene propylene o-rings I purchased. They were prompt in shipping. Had no issues with the order.

Good luck and happy tumbling....

I have owned two Remington 1100's in my life. Both needed o rings replaced for the gas blocks. I did order from this company before, and they worked great. Remington wanted $6.00 per ring, and these guys wanted .30 cents each at the time. Bought 25 of them and I have replaced them 3 times in the past 5 years I think. But I have done business with this company before. Good find and thanks for the reminder. I have a tumbler as well, but never broke a belt yet...knock on wood.

dickn52 -

I wish I had your luck with those tumbler belts lasting so long. I really think these o-rings are going to have a longer life span than the factory replacement belts - at about 7 times cheaper!

Just a status report on the ethylene propylene o-ring substitute for the Thumler's Tumbler belt. So, far, after many multiple tumbling sessions, the o-ring is holding up like new.

Thes o-rings appear to be an improvement over the replacement belts which, for me, wouldn't last long at all. And for no aparent reason!

Hope this helps -

Happy tumbling...

Just a reminder Ethylene Propylene Rubber is not suitable in petroleum fluids (fuels, mineral oils, greases). If you was doing something are o ring got in contact and had oil on your fingers from doing other thinks believe me it doesn't take much to break down ethylene propylene o ring will fail. Seen this o ring fail in the industrial field a lot because of oils and grease contact.
