Throat Wear Varget

i have two kreiger 30'' one 8'' twist other 7 1/2'' both chambered with the same reamer
8'' twist using varget .015 wear 600rd 3050fps.The 7 1/2 had none using h 4350 3065 fps i have a thought it due to longer peak preasure and spreads the burn over a longer area Help wanted Good shooting Larry

I would say that this has more to do with the Varget load probably being a higher pressure load more than anything else.

What case are these barrels chambered in?

I wonder if you have one hard barrel as H4350 is one of the powders which quite a few posts are claiming is a barrel burning powder, at least in 284s anyhow?

Wouldnt H4350 be considered a "fast" powder in a .284?

I think we may be arguing the same thing here. The H4350 would be a slow powder for this chambering whereas Varget would be a faster powder?

Flip side, H4350 would be considered fast in a .284 whereas H4831 would be slower/optimal powder.

Am I looking at this the wrong way?

you are correct 284 is way overbore so slower powder helps but not like in the dasher send some information bullet oa
l lingth barrel lingth and bullet typei will play on quickload

here is some quickload pressure and bullet travel and fps.
varget 33.3gr 62091 max psi 3073 fps 95% of speed in 10.4'' 2404 fps.
h 4350 36.6gr 61274 max psi 3089 fps 95% of speed in 18.2'' 2774 fps.
6mm dasher 105 berger hybrids oal 2.500 barrel 30'' that tells me you have the pressure and heat 7.8''longer with 4350 then varget. more speed and less pressure.

A 284 is way overbore?? Then what would you call a 280 win, 7 saum, 7wsm, 7rem, 7stw, 7RUM, ect.

I don't think a 284 is anywhere near overbore. The only 7's smaller than the 284 that come to mind are the 7mm08 and the 7 mmBR. Not sure where the Mauser fits in.

As far as the op...RL15/varget seem to be the go to powders with the heavy bullets for most disciplines in the dasher. I would think that the H4350 would be to slow.....but...you are getting great velocity out of the 4350. Go figure. So.....chalk the wear issue up to the shooting gods, luck, or whatever. Sometimes what is just ...is!
