6 Brx learning curve

6 Brx learning curve

a few question that will help in testing a new build.. i hope!

neck tention thinking .003 is average ,.. does it work for you with more or less then .003 or is that good ?

OAL case length ... what is yours ?
after fire forming i've come up with a few different ones not sure what is normal ?

Power.. i wonder if you could suggest a starting point for :
i startes with varget 33.0 an 105 bullet for the fire forming have no idea how far i can go with the varget yet
what about a starting for these ?
H-4350
Re-19
H-4831

i'm using Rem 7 1/2 & cci 450 primers

Thanks in advance,...

.003 is about Max tension for me (Dasher's) and am generally around .001"

Need to base your case lengths from your actual chamber measurements for wildcats.
They do not have a Std. or SAMMI specification. To many variables from one reamers specs to another.

H-4350
Re-19 <> to slow burning for the 6mmBR family
H-4831 <> far to slow burning for the 6mmBR family

i'm using Rem 7 1/2 & cci 450 primers <> those will work fine. I myself prefer the 450's

Thanks in advance,...

I don't Shoot a BRX but the capacity is close to a dasher. H 4350 is the only powder I use. in a blown out case.
Not knowing your chamber or case capacity. I would start with 35.5 and work your way up. Around 36.3 you will hear the powder crushing with out a long drop tube and a slow pour. 450 primers are ok Just not my choice. Larry

33 of varget is pretty strong for fire forming your primer pockets might not like it

the 450 primers should work well for you and I would give RL-15 a try along with the varget

Agreed. 33 grains of Varget is WAY too high. I use 30 and it works fine.

I shoot a BRX for F-Class.

Lapua cases, Federal primers, Berger 105 hybrids, Varget, .001 neck tension, .020 jump.

Somewhere around 30gr for fire forming (less if you can get away with it), and 33gr-ish for match loads.

This combo has shot exceptionally well for me. I've never tried anything other than Varget, as I found it to work very well from day 1.

This load yields me ~3020 fps in a 28" barrel. It is a bit tough on primer pockets.

I shoot a brx and love it. I have been shooting out to 1100 yards. It is awesome.

I ff with 28gr of Varget, 205m primer and 105 vld's cases form well. I see no reason to use more powder. I just don't like the extra wear on barrel, throat, and primer pockets. And this load shoots bug holes too.

Using Varget I would start my load development less then 33grains cause of the variations
in lots.
My regular brx load is 33.8 gr of varget, 205m, and 105vld's. It gives me 3040 fps. It's pretty hot in my gun. Just switched lots and it is way HOT! had to back off .8 gr. in order for it to shoot well and give me my 3040fps.

For neck tension I'm running .003" less then loaded round.

I have used 33.5gr Varget and 105 vlds with CCI 450 primers in the last 2 6brx barrels with excellent results. In my latest barrel I'm playing around with h4350. I find that 36.5gr gives equivalent velocity and accuracy. Remember to work up carefully to these loads - they are on the warm side.

with the info all of you have mentioned i guess i'm good start testing with a little less worries... thank you all
one problem i see i may have i just don't have an OAL length for the case ....
question is 'what is too short' for the neck i have more then a few that are .020 +shorter then my longest.. 1.660 - 1.630 the reason for the diff""" is formed a few with creamofwheat thingy.. to messy, an the rest in a forming barrel i had made at the same time...
i then fired a few in the actual barrel an sent the cases off to Harrell's ..what a great guy, made me what i needed, an fast return also
...So now i'll be sizing all the cases ... just wondering what may be to short.... will it matter ?
