Throat for 6BRX

My reamer has .099" which puts the bullet very close if not on the neck/shoulder junction with a 105 jammed .010". I think I would go with at least .115" to .120" next time.

Thanks for the replies all, appreciate it. Looks like will go some where in the 0.120s .

I had Kiff grind mine at .104 free bore for 107's I wished I had went with about .114
Wayne.

I have a Mike Davis BRX chambered rifle. I also had Kiff grind my own reamer with a .140" FB the difference between the 2 chambers is within .010" seating the same bullet to the lands.

Is the Davis chambered rifle a .114 throat and in your opinion which shoots best??
Gary.

This is his retired reamer he called "Old Reliable" and it had 17 world records to its credit so we know how well it shot. I`m thinking he said it was purchased used, and believed to have a .125" freebore. I was proud going slightly off his recommendations with the .140" and it being so close to his. I have both chamberings to compare.

tclaunch,
how is that .140 doing compared to the .125?
I am looking at the bottom the boat tail of the bullet being right at the shoulder/ body junction and think I may need to go to about .140.

Gary.

I can tell no difference in group sizes. I wanted more options on bullets not seated into the case past the neck shoulder. I have felt uneven seating pressure when that happens. I began annealing 3 years ago, and that helped stop all of that so it is not as important to me as past times. I`d assemble a dummy round with .005" neck tension so it will stay put and send a note with the OAL written down as well to insure the case made it there as sent, and send this to Henriksen, JGS, or PT&G
