Throat depth?

I have a 308 I am going to be using as my first F/TR rifle and it has a very short throat . I am thinking about making up a dummy round with a 185 seated with the bottom of the bearing surface just above the shoulder/neck junction. I am also hoping this will allow me to still use 155's .

I am fairly certain this will work well as it was suggested by one of the well known top local shooters.

What do you all think?

Thanks

Not sure on the exact number but as it is the bottom of the bearing surface is slightly below the neck/shoulder junction. I was originally chamber for Bisley back in the early 80's
