Stalk

Had three gobblers pass by me without seeing me and than I heard grunting. As luck would have it it was coming from the NW. The wind direction. I did a slow stalk in the dry leaves taking 2.5 hours to go 300 meters. I see a doe lying 30 yards away and the buck coming. I slipped behind a tree as he was doing half circles around me. Than another gobbler passed by and I asked the Lord not to let the wind change or the turkey see me. After 4 minutes the buck realized something is not right. He walked straight to me as I'm taking video of him. Now he's pawing at the ground and throwing his head back. He's 12 steps away. My adrenaline is pumping but I never flinched. The camera is starting to shake. Finally he turns and walks east of me than the doe gets up and comes so close I could touch her. Now he's coming back but follows the doe NW. What a day.

Ive stalked up to with in 15 feet of a doe, I had a bug tamer suit on as it was early in the season and really hot and the mosquitoes were really bad. She knew from my scent something was wrong when i finally got that close, but due to the suit she wasn't sure what. She started stomping the ground and I threw up my arms and she ran off.

I’ve got a hecs suit and I’ll tell you I believe it helps there is no magic cure all to make you completely invisible but I’ve had two deer walk behind me within 3 feet of me and never knew I was there

Feeling that adrenaline I’ve often wondered if I was going to have a heart attack or an aneurism. Feels kind of dangerous to have the old ticker pounding like that.

I've made the comment you may or may not find my skeleton but I didn't end up in a nursing home. On the other hand I carry a orange panel, signal mirror and keep track of my 10 digit grid along with the closest LZ.

I was rattling for whitetail last weekend. Had a big ten come from behind a cedar bunch 12 to 15 feet away. You are very correct about the adrenaline dump. Did not take the shot because the moment was so intense. Wish every hunt could be like that.
