All, I have a factory Tikka TX3 Lite SS in 6.5 Creedmoor that I want to have the barrel chopped down to 20" and threaded for use with my suppressor (5/8-24). The barrel profile at 20" is somewhere around .620" so there isn't enough meat there to have a good shoulder. So, I am looking for someone who can cut it down, thread it and add a shoulder, similar to what is done on this video.
I realize I could just have it threaded 1/2-28 and use and adapter (all my DT suppressors are 5/8-24), but I would much prefer not to have to mess with an adapter that isn't permanently mounted and I like the aesthetics of the contoured shoulder.
I have reached out to Shaen Rifles as he does something similar (he threads to 9/16-24 or a metric thread, then permanently attaches an adapter that he then contours), but he isn't taking any new work at this time. I have also reached out to Karl Kampfield as I know he does similar work, but I have not gotten a return email or call in over 2 weeks. I assume he is also super busy right now.
I am wondering if there are any of the smiths on this forum that would be willing to do this for me, or if any of you have recommendations?
You have all be amazing at helping me out in the past with little projects, so even though it is not a specific "how to" question, I am appreciative of any advice or direction you can provide me.
