FORUM NOTICE Thread Prefixes for Classified Ads

Not An Admin
To resolve some of the ongoing frustration with WTS, WTB, SPF (Sold Pending Funds), etc... in the Classifieds, I setup three thread prefixes. To set one, just select from the drop down when you create a new ad:

In addition to clearly showing what type of Ad you are posting, you can filter on prefixes - so, if you only want to see "Selling" ads, you can filter by that prefix. If you want to see "WTB" ads at the top, you can filter/sort by that. And so on...

I created a couple of test ads in the Guns, Actions, etc... forum to demonstrate. If you already have an ad posted, you should be able to edit your thread and add a prefix.

Hopefully this helps a bit.

Would be really nice if the ad was automatically deleted when the item sold, clicked the sold icon, or if the ad poster deleted their sold ads so everyone else's ads are not being buried by stuff no longer available. Seems ridiculous that sellers bump their ads to say "Sold" but don't delete them. That may be how a certain other forum works, but it is not needed here.
Obviously multiple product listings in an ad are the exception to the above statement.

I once thought the same way till I started selling my mentors shooting estate.
I will mark an ad SPF or SOLD till the transaction is 100% complete for both buyer and me. That away if there is an issue it can be publicly address if need be in the item thread.

Jay sir the prefix is GREAT

Thanks for all ya do.

you should be able to edit your ad and then edit the subject (like if you were going to add SPF or something to it). On the left side, you should see a field that says "thread prefix" and if you click on it, you'll see the dropdown that lets you pick a tag.

Is it possible to show these buttons on the classified ads right sidebar?

Now that folks are using the button instead of the standard naming convention, all of the ones on the right(preview) bar are missing this information.
