thread locker

Clear finger nail polish works real good, just don't let anyone see YOU buying it. It MAY change their prospective of you.
But then again, what ever blows you skirt up. ;)

I buy the cheap stuff in colors to do the flutes on my bolt bodies.
Don't like the colors or the finish? Choke and Carb cleaner will remove it in nothing flat. Kinda like changing your shorts.
I use pumpkin orange on the outside of trigger adjustment screws after a trigger job.

I have some blue I'll probably use on the little scope base screws.
Never thought of antisleeze.
I get that stuff all over every time I open it.
Usually find answers here by using search.
Not this time so thanks.
(I spelled it wrong dah)
Never seeze is kinda like peanut butter....open the jar and it just appears everywhere! :)

Seekins rings will put the hurt on one if your not careful. I quit at 17 on my Sightron 30mm tubes.
You and I agree on almost everything, but I’ve got nothing but Seekins rings and never hurt a scope, always do 20 lbs on NF, Zeiss and Swarovski- but never a sightron and I won’t buy a Leupold.

I wonder if the sightron are a little softer?

Yes I love Seekins rings. The Sightron‘s are a little thinner aluminum than the Nightforce, I assume. I put my rings a little to close to the turrets one time and it affected the focus mechanism according to Sightron, not positive on that but they were good to work with. Now I get further out on the tube, and just go to 17 instead of the Seekins listed 20 inch pounds.

After reading all these comments ; You guys had me thinking I'm doing something wrong , or not doing something I should be doing , so I went and checked all of my scopes / mounts . Scopes are Vortex GE's and Rings are all Burris Signature Insert Rings . Nope ! Not a single screw loose on either the scope clamps , ( 6 screw ) or on the Ring Clamps . Have never used a single bit of thread locker on any of my scopes , and have no intention of ever doing so . Just torque to proper settings with a good wrench . Just as a after-thought . This might be more of a issue where the climate changes more than it does for us here in the desert S.W. .

I don't use thread locker on ring screws( Minnesota) my hunting rifles go from -20+ to room temp 50 or more times in a winter. No issues with clean, properly torqued screws. I use pink nail polish on trigger adjustment screws, only bottle my wife would let me use. Couple years ago a friend asked me to change scopes on his M700, I changed the base/rings and leveled the new scope. Pulled the stock off to look at the trigger because it felt really nice for a stock/new M700( my friend said he was going hunting for the first time). Well it had pink nail polish on the screw heads. I called him and asked him if I had worked on it before. He said, yes 10 years before he wanted a hunting rifle. He said I found him the rifle on clearance, he bought it, never used it after I had put on the original scope(and adjusted the trigger for him).

I don't use locktite on my guns but I do use VIBRATITE. On all scope rings and mounts. Works different and have never had anything come loose.

Vibratite is great, except for the cost and the shelf life. If I remember right, it's also designed for 1/4" fasteners and larger, so it's hit or miss with smaller ones. Works well when it's fresh though.

I live in Ohio and no issues here. All still tight as when they were installed.
