Thoughts on CZ 527

I have a chance to pick up on, NIB in 223 with a synthetic stock. i don't really need the rifle but i wouldn't mind having a nice 223 bolt action, and the price is really good. i know CZ makes nice rifles and handguns, just would like to hear from those who have them and have shot them.

I shot a 527 American in 222R for a year and liked it, especially the trigger. But it heated up too quickly for me. I would get another 527 if it had a heavy barrel and synthetic stock.
A thing to watch out for is how true the grooves on top of the receiver are. Seems my 527 was off quite a bit from front to back which made scope mounting tricky.

I have a 223 and love it. Killed P Dogs out to 560 yards and never had any trouble. did not have any issues mounting a scope. Looked at Charles Dailey and Rem and decided I bought the right gun.

243HogHunter - Which synthetic stock does it have? I just sold my 527 Kevlar Varmint in .223. I do regret it, as it was a great shooter. I had it suppressed, and it looked like a mini tactical rig. It had a 1 in 9 twist, and shot 52gr up to some 80gr projectiles very well. Most things it was pointed at, fell over, if I did my part. Really liked the set trigger, and you can single feed, if the mag is empty. Couldn't fault mine. Why did I sell it? Wanted to build a 6.5x47L, budget is tight, so it was scacrificed :'(. I don't think you can go wrong with one. cheers

Reminds me that my 527 was pretty hard to single feed when new. It took considerable effort to get the extractor to jump the case rim using push feed style. Very hard on the case too.
Not surprising as the 527 is designed as a controlled round system. With a little stoning on the extractor claw it was much better and I did all my shooting single feed after that.

Bought laminated 527 .223 6 months ago and it has proven to be very capable rifle, I just need to learn to shoot. No training at the range here in Finland this time of year, last night was -41c outside.

Factory barrels in Ceska's seem pretty good and smooth, even compared to Tikka's. The rifle has new and little bit more uniform crown and bedding job.

Lapua 55gr SP. 5 shots / 100m,
of course one flier :P

I have shot my wood stocked 223 for years as a predator gun. Great set trigger, not bad regular also. It is a great little rifle, killed a bunch of coyotes and bobcats, turkey, rabbits, etc. with it, even a Texas deer with barnes bullets in it. It is one of my favorite general purpose rifles.

Skoodi,
Nice rifle. My 527 did the same thing every group, three shots touching then the fourth bullet always had a mind of its own. :)
