There have been variations on 6mm in AR platforms for a while now. Some of the main issues are the energy and stress levels in the bolt lugs based on the case head.
Similar to the issues of using an AR-15 platform for going to 7.62x39 energy levels (~1550 Ft*Lbs) and required a larger case head, once you push the design beyond the original intent it means you have to deal with all the other changes it will require to keep the stress margins and maintain life expectations.
When you consider the AR-15 platform is typically happy with about 1300 Ft*Lbs and it takes near 2000 Ft*Lbs to get the desired velocity with 105 - 115 grain bullets, I would seriously question the attempts to stuff that into an AR-15 design, but would not question it at all in the AR-10 platform.
The AR platforms are known to eat up brass compared to bolt guns, and these days brass is hard to come by. I would also consider that prairie dog shooting is a bulk loading hobby, so think long and hard about the brass situation when you select the case head design and the platform. YMMV
