Thoughts on 6GT

[Brass Case]

I've got a hankering to build a gas gun for long range work on prairie dogs.

Just got back from my first 3 day dog shoot and learned a lot; Basically heavy bullets and light recoils are your friend.
That being said, my new 6 Dasher performed amazing, producing smiles all 3 days.

I'm thinking it would be an amazing complement to have a gas gun in a similar style cartridge. That's got me thinking 6 GT.
Better feeding from a magazine than 6br or Dasher. Can drive 115 gn bullets without issue

I see that GA precision is now offering a gas gun in that chambering.
I only see upside. Any thoughts?

Better, but not perfect. You may still need a mag tweaks/kits.

FWIW: From what I've seen, most of the GT chamberings have a .120'ish freebore.

I have two 6GT's and love them both dearly. Neither in a gas gun, but it should be a great shooter in any platform.

I'm not sure if you'd get 115 grain bullets to run mag length but the 105 class bullets should work

My thoughts are stick with a bolt action with a brake or a suppressor.
To me gas gun follow up shots are not necessary, bolt gun is plenty fast enough.

The 6xc shoots best right around 3000 fps (I think).

Take a 6xc and shoot it slow. Easy button. Good brass for cheap. Small and large rifle primer.

I plan on making a 6xc 160 fb for my DPMS Gen 2 Goblin killer. R16 powder shooting mild loads. Shoot from the mag like a 308 no problems even with a 115 dtacs

it AINT FOLLOW UP..ITS THE NEXT TARGET while the first is in the air.
my last pd shoot was TWO AR'S no bolt guns.
tons of fun
but i think there are other proven ar rounds

Yes. Use AR COMP, 8208, or H4895.

It's very similar to a 6 Creedmoor.

“IF” you could get a bolt made to fit into an AR15 platform you would have a really nice light weight package.
I think there are much better cartridge choices in the AR10 platform
