I want a regular riflesmith and a grand poobah riflesmith cert framed and matted with blue ribbons on there and can i get a wallet card too? This thread really opened my eyes to my shortcomings.

The OP asked a reasonable question. It should have been answered or ignored if the potential responder had no information to give.
I am all too familiar with the long phone waits and poor chances of getting that class of information from the manufacturer.
Further, anyone who is truly busy knows that spending 2-3 minutes to pound out a question and then working other projects while answers appear - or don't - is a better use of time than waiting sometimes an our or more, on the phone to get customer service.

Sometimes the responses vary wildly from silence to long and very detailed instructions/explanations. Most times there is a reason for the type of answer that is given- notice some questions are answered in great detail and some are steering posts, some people get real good help and then some dont.
This thread was a pissing match and clique bullying.

sure it would be nice to get the exact answer you want to a question here and not have to read anything else, but unfortuneatly its not a perfect world. when an OP asks a question and then that OP replys to the first person who tries to help him" i dont need your Bullshit answer"that OP deserves whatever he gets. remember people answering questions here are providing those answers for free without expecting any compensation and an OP that tells them he doesnt need their Bullshit answer doesnt deserve an answer. i wouldnt expect an answer if i acted like that

I just barreled a Compass receiver I acquired at Tulsa. Surprisingly is the same barrel threads as a Rem 70. The compass however does not use a recoil lug between the bbl and receiver nor does it have the recess in the barrel shank for the bolt face. I used a 700 fluted SS heavy bbl in 308 and removed the recessed end, extended the threads to the required length and viola`.
I did not save my notes as to the shank length and such so can't help you there.
