Has any one fooled with one yet? I bought one in 204 Ruger and want to take off barrel and make it a 20 Vartarg. I cannot find any info on the barrel shank anywhere.
I just wanted to know if anyone has played with one. I don't need your bullshit reply. I'm a certified riflesmith and I don't need a gunsmith, I just want some info on the shank diameter and threads.if you wanted to tear it apart as soon as you bought it there are way better more mainstream options you could have chose. just take it off and measure it or ask your gunsmith if he will even work on it.

never know where a cert comes from. trinidad would be a good oneTrinidad issue ‘certificates of competency’ for their graduates? I know several gunsmiths who’ve taken - or teach - courses there but the topic’s never come up in casual conversation.
They all ‘practice’ like MD, DDS, JD types.... Heck I was a CPhT for a couple years but never actually got hired to practice what I’d certifiably learned in the course.
one thing i know for sure- no matter what i post youll attack me- ive meant more than three graduates from trinidad - ive been there and talked to them at the school. you have no idea about me you just make up things --youre not worth the time or effort to reply to.In any schooling, you directly get out of it what you put into it. The in-residence schools will be head and shoulders above the on-line offerings. Simply because there is an instructor there, looking over your shoulder, to show you what you're doing wrong, how to do it the correct way, or an easier way. How hard you work while in school and the quality of the instructors is what matters, not the location of the school. There are several other very good gunsmithing schools that have been in existence for many years besides the one at Trinidad. And I probably shouldn't add this, but how would you know which is a "good one" , as you haven't attended/graduated from any of them, Hoz? Simply opinion? What you've read on the interdnet? I have personally met a 3 graduates from the Trinidad program. One of them I wouldn't let work on a BB gun, and he got a "Certificate".
When you say things that are "way out there" , I tend to point them out! Have you met any graduates from any of the other schools? No 'attack' intended. Forming an opinion with having only one example is usually not a very good way. Have you bothered to "talk" to any of the other schools? Probably not. A good indication to me of a closed mind! And, I'll bother to point out that many of your posts are not clear. Just how in Gods' name was I supposed to know you were talking to Hogpatrol, in the post about tools? You didn't bother to say so!.........So, you call that an "attack"? I refer you to the thread about "Hurt Feelings", on the main message board............ you would have known the post to hogpatrol was for him because i replied to his post and his message and name were in the top of my post. ive talked to all the schools - the point is you didnt know if i had or not but you form an opinion anyway not knowing what youre talking about. i dont have any hurt feelings or any other kind of feelings about what strangers post on an internet site. i just call it what it is- you like to attack me-- thats ok go ahead- i dont pay any attention to you. When you say things that are "way out there" , I tend to point them out! The other more obvious solution for obtaining an answer would be to call Thompson Center. 5 minutes on the phone will get you answers a hell of a lot faster than waiting for replies on a forum for a rifle that nobody ever uses for custom builds.
i think all this is true to. anytime ive called a manufacturer they wont tell me anything. im gonna call remington about some parts soon-we'll see what happens but im not optomistic.I seriously doubt the OP would know anything (and maybe just mad at TC) after a call to CS there. My industry time tells me they will likely not only refrain from providing the info he needs and/or tell him they do not recommend he perform any work at all on it. They will surely tell him that anything he may do will void the manufacturer's warranty.
If your a certified smith , get real . I'm the kingI just wanted to know if anyone has played with one. I don't need your bullshit reply. I'm a certified riflesmith and I don't need a gunsmith, I just want some info on the shank diameter and threads.
