Spladi, I too have plenty of time, but I built a vise that does not limit me. I spent some of my extra time making a quality vise that will do all but cannons and double rifles.

Yes, some of the vintage gunsmith books show monstrous barell vises bolted to an angle iron tapered leg table sunk in concrete and a guy using a four foot cheater bar on a custom filed to fit action wrench for Mausers and 1917's....which is close to what I built some thirty years ago. Mine uses massive lead bushings which surround five inches of a barell tightened down with four 3/4" bolts, it don't slip.
