Thinning the Herd

Holy smokes Jeff, seams like yesterday you were telling me your goal was to play a basketball game when you turned 70 in a couple years. Hard to imagine time goes by that fast.

Jimmy, a friend of mine and i shot every weekend one summer, a few of them both Saturday and Sunday, in the beginning it was a lot of fun. At the end of the season we were both glad it was over. Too much like work. We both sat down and decided, never again did we want to feel that way at the end of the year. Since, we've both limited the amount of matches and at the end of the year, we are still hungry and cant wait until the next season. It is now more enjoyable than ever. I hope you're signed up for the Tack Driver again this year, I'm looking forward to our Sunday afternoon bull session after the match. I'll bring beer and cigars, you bring a lawn chair and stories.
Hey Mike, one of my proudest accomplishments.....seeing you shoot 500 yards with a 6PPC. No beer or cigars....But I have stories. And my time sitting at a bench beside you are amongst the best in my life. Yes I will see you there and hopefully at Mifflin. I am down to running one Airgun match a month. Being beat by you while whipping on Jesse is still a great time.

Man, I'm really sad to hear so many of you are thinking about throwing in the towel. I have my share of injuries too. It felt like I was getting Alzheimer's disease. I was so weak I could not lift a bale of hay. I got 3 horses and 3 dogs, plenty to do. I was writing things down and leaving words out and did not think I was. It was all from the meds I was on. I quit taking them and feel much better. I'll be 78 this year and at the rate I was going I don't think I could have lasted much longer. My point is, some of these doctors use us as experiments or just give us all the pills that might work. I have a few friends that stopped taking pills that they really did not need because the side effects are not worth it. Just saying. We can make our selves well with what we eat and how we live, and shooting is good for you. So take care of yourselves.
They call their work a "Practice" I got the point!

Hmmmmmmm! At age 75 I am not quite ready to take that plunge. I am, however, going to consolidate on my single shot rifles. The M1885 Winchesters are all going to get sold (I hope). I also sold two of my CPA's.
I am mostly down to my favorite single shot falling block rifles, the 7 Borchardt complete rifles, and three actions. I got a set of Pfeifer double set triggers for one of my BRC's today, and a gunsmith is finishing up another set for the other BRC action a gentleman in Montana is engraving.
I traded off the Gibbs 550 Gibbs (necked up 505) for some parts. But then again, I traded into a Sedgeley Springfield action, so that is a wash on reduction. There is likely no hope for me.

What will you do with all the free time? It's just going to be some new obsession or being a loser on the couch. I like shooting and reloading largely because I hate sitting in the couch. If I have nothing left to fix, improve, or build, I'll smash a hole in the wall just so I can go to home depot and then fix it. I nuked my perfectly nice lawn with roundup just so i could grow a new one from premium cultivars, but really so I wouldn't be a loser on my couch. Sounds like you need to build a rock crawler or muscle car and donate a bench gun to me. My drywall thanks you in advance haha....
