Thinking of skipping next match?

Anybody else thinking about skipping the next match, or maybe two? I've got the ammo covered for the next two at least; but, I'm looking around the "shelves" here on the web and seeing EVERYBODY sold out or out of stock of virtually EVERY .244 and .308 caliber bullets of every make and model. As much as I would really really hate to, I'm just wondering if I want to possible be out of them myself.

Everybody will be restocked is a couple months, not that big of a deal. Just buy your components by the thousand and it's not an issue when the hoarders get silly.

I agree, Im not skipping, I have items on back order now that I will need soon(powder and primers) and honestly just have to look for bullets, I had no problem getting my 308 bullets last week. Check Brunos for both calibers, I ordered 1000 bergers/sierra and they had them all in stock. but as mnshortdraw said, everyone will have item back in stock in a month or so.

I'm skipping a bunch this year.

Mostly due to the east coast LR IBS mind set........

I didn't hardly shoot at all 4 years ago when this crap happened. This year, I'm shooting. I ordered 3k bullets for my 308 on Christmas Eve. A lot of guys think of that as stocking up but I've just gotten used to doing that. I order enough to get me through a year. I did have to make my order a little sooner this year because of our current situation but it is what it is. Just plan ahead. A guy really shouldn't count on being able to go into a store and pick up a box of bullets every time he runs out anymore. Besides, if you buy by the 1000, in theory you'll have more consistent ammo as it will all be the same lot for 1000 rounds.

My primary motivation. I hate changing components during a season.

Very good points. I have always tried to buy as much as I can at any one time, but I am definitely making a larger investment as soon as what I need becomes available.

I'm not skipping anything this year, even if I have to put a firecracker in the chamber and shoot rocks (LOL). IMO, not shooting = not improving. I'm fortunate to have enough on hand to last a while. Even so, I'd order more now, even if it's back-ordered. The sooner you get on the list, the sooner your order will be filled when the supply is re-stocked.

Speaking of shooting: will you be at South Bay on the 19th? The lying weatherman is saying 71°. ;)

No. If I skip, then they have won.

Yeah, will it isn't really, or wasn't, so much an issue that I was gonna skip because of any polictical issues like that exactly. But, if you shoot F-tr and there are no suitable bullets available, or heck, just NO bullets available period, its hard for me to go want to shoot the last seventy I have on hand putting holes in paper. It may be a slightly different story in 6mm, .284 or something like that; but, I found myself with bullets being put on back-order, then delayed, and then finally the order cancelled from back in early December. All available .224 and .308 bullets were quickly gobbled up. My bullet that me and my son had been shooting was the 75gr Amax. I finally got my hands on two boxes of 70gr Bergers and a 250 box of 77gr Nosler Custom Competitions (with cannular, unfortunately, but hey), and that was the last ones Midway, or anyone else had, but too late to work up new loads. Now, if I can just get the time to shoot a couple of ladder test, I'll be back in business.

I skipped the last two F and tactical matches for lack of components. I'm shooting a big match in March and wanting to make sure I had enough bullets for it. A forum member generously offered to sell me just what I need so I'm going to shoot this coming match and the March match and have plenty. I was lucky enough to have had enough powder and primers to last me for a while, just needed those projectiles.
