Thinking of a rebarrel

I currently have a Winchester M70 in 22-250. I am considering rebarreling for either 243 AI or 260 AI. Does anyone have any input for me concerning twist rate? I was considering 1" in 10" for 243 or a 1" in 9" for the 260. Would these be good choices? Thanks in advance

Depends on what bullet and what range you want to shoot at.

For the 260, the slowest twist I would consider is a 1:8.5....so you can pound the LLLLLooooong 6.5 bullets out there at distance.

I was considering up to 142 grain bullets for 260 AI, and maybe up to 105 grain Amax in 243.

If you are going to shoot the 142's in the 260 i would go at least 1n8.5 and 1n8 would be better .And the 105 A-max need a 1n9 twist .

Thanks for the advise. I think I am just going to keep it simple and go with a standard 260 Rem with 1 in 8 twist.

My .243 AI 1:10" twist will not stabilize the 105 A-Maxes as they require a 1:9" twist.
