these NEW IOR SCOPES

Mine is a IOR 9 X 36 with a MP-8 dot reticle and has a 35 mm tube. Glass is very clear, I think much better than a Nightforce with their 30 mm tube. I have several Nightforces and now have two IOR's. I understand IOR has a 40 mm tube model available, I don't have one. Both have a lifetime warranty. IORs' is only for the original owner, Nightforces' is transferable.

IOR scope weighs more than the similar Nightforce.

I like the MP-8 reticle but prefer the Nightforce MLR. Other reticles are available for both scopes, Nightforce has more options.

MP-8 dot Reticle is calibrated in MILS in 0.5 MIL increments. Center Dot is 0.25 MOA and solid. I would have preferred a smaller dot or a see through dot. IOR Turrets are 0.25 MOA clicks with 25 MOA per revolution. I would have preferred a single system of measurement, either MILS or MOA, but this system is easy to use and works. I like the 25 MOA per revolution turret. My NXS Nightforces have 0.25MOA clicks and 10 MOA per revolution, benchrests have 0.125" clicks, reticle measurements vary.

I have owned several Nightforces for years and have had to send only two back for repairs. Great service and quick return. Only own two IOR's, just this week bought another one, no problems yet. Have had an IOR for only one year, it's been on many rifles from a 6BR to a 338 LM, no problems yet.

Can't compare exactly Nightforce to IOR on price since they are not exactly the same product but in general I feel IORs are a better buy. That of course is debatable. IOR's include rings in their price. IOR's use 35mm rings and there are less options for that then 30 mm rings. Both have illuminated reticles, some people like that, I have never used it in any of my scopes other than to turn it on to see if it works.

I don't think you would be disappointed in either scope.

My next scope will be a IOR.

From what I have seen and read, the IOR Valdada is an excellent scope. They are a little on the heavy side but that equates into ruggedness. I've had my eye on them for awhile.

I thought Nightforce warranty was to oringinal purchaser only.
Lot of information about IOR scopes on Snipershide sight.

Are you sure the clicks are .25MOA and not metric,1cm per click)? I've read that the clicks are metric. Have you tested the click adjustment on the firing range?

I have been really interested in these scopes, and have found in my research that they have both MOA and MIL adjustments on different scopes depending on which version you get. Snipershide had it's own version created for them and it does have MIL adjustments in their 3-18 version of the scope.

Top of Turret reads "1 Click 1/4 MOA". Also works out that way when you shoot.

Attachment gives specs on reticle, MILs except for MOA center dot.

Mix of MILs and MOAs unusual but works. Like I had said I would have preferred either all MILS or all MOAs but I don't have any problem working with this reticle.

About three years ago both myself and my brother-in-law purchased 6-24x50, 35mm tube IOR's thinking that the mp8 reticle would make a great prairie dog scope. Both scopes soon developed side focus problems and neither one would give decent resolution above 10 power and both soon became blurred beyond 500yds. Mine was so bad after the first day of use that the mounds were not even clear let alone the dogs. Both scopes were sent back for warranty repair and I honestly believe my brother-in-law's scope was worse when he received it back then when he sent it in. The resolution on mine would clear up but the side focus still was inconsistent, you had to really fiddle with it to get it dialed in. The sight picture was as clear as any scope I've ever owned but it was a major pain in the butt to get it right, it always took far to long to get good resolution. I sold mine and was happy to see it go, my poor brother-in-law is still stuck with his and it's has spent more time in Colorado for repairs then it's spent in the dog towns. I for one wouldn't put another IOR on any of my rifles.
