There is no award for the high score with a Remington 700

Hard not to pull for the underdog lol.Ive never owned a custom action and sure they are nice but seems like I could do alot with/to the 700 for what one cost.

Full disclosure: In the changing environment at my day job, my skills have become quite valuable and I've gotten 2 nice promotions in the past 2 years. So I've gone to the dark side and bought 2 Bordens....not expecting more accuracy, just nice. A Bentley doesn't do any better job of getting you to work than an Acura, but it is more enjoyable. --Jerry

If 700s are rated in the lowly category by so many, I
have to wonder why most custom actions are a copy.
I will go out on a limb and say, if a person is a consistent
winner with brand X custom action, he or she could
take a 700 thats properly prepared and do the same thing.
I'll compare this to winners who dumped Jewell Triggers
for a B&A. They are still winners but have twice the
investment in their trigger. It must be a feel good thing.

BTW Congratulation Jerry. LDS

Theres been way more swap back than has stayed.

Hey Jerry, we forgot to tell you about your Bear Trophy... you are supposed to shoot a Palma Rifle on the F class target to win that one. You will have to turn it back in! Just kidding, we shot together on the last day and that was fine shooting. It is a bit odd how the plaque says “Palma Rifle F Class” on it. Glad you SoCal guys came to shoot with us. Mike

Remington's design is one of the best ever. It is their execution that has gone lacking.
I see a lot of Remington 700's on the firing line but a pure stock one (even just the action) is a rare thing.

That's what my friends tell me. Anyway, I was the only one to take to the line with a Rem 700 at the California Palma State Championships on Mar 7,8, 2020. So I would have been guaranteed that award.

There were a couple of rifles shooting better than mine at certain distances (800, 900 and 1000) and some rifles had higher X counts.

But at the end of the 2nd day when we added them all up, my score was highest (F-Class).

Congrats to a fellow Jerry! We do get out licks in some days.

My two Remington actions a 700 and a 40X both blue printed by a precision gunsmith are not what keeps me out of the winners circle in F-Class. It's my lack of ability.

Michael, Enjoyed shooting with you and can't wait to get back. --Jerry

I love my Borden and have another coming. I'll bet you're going to love it, especially if Jim times a Jewell to it before shipping so that it's buttery and perfect on close!

My fully worked over remmy is just as accurate as my Borden, and I saved maybe 300 dollars over what my Borden cost me. Now I've got an expensive Remmy that doesn't feel anywhere near as nice to use and I'll never be able to sell it for much. It wasn't a wise use of my money or time when my goal was BR accuracy from the start.

If you do everything you can do to a Rem 700 action (including bolt relocation) it can be made to run beautifully. My 300WSM in a LA sitting in an MPA Hybrid chassis is an amazing gun......Congrats on your win. That is one nice trophy.....

Regards
Rick
