The Twins

I have two customers who placed orders for a custom hunting rifles that were able to take deer at long distances. These rifes are the same except for action serial number, color, and barrel length. One has a 25" barrel and the other a 26" barrel. The actions are stiller Predator, the barrels are Broughton .284, 1:9, 5C. The stocks are McMillian, the bottom metal is PT&G Stainless Steel, the mag boxes are Wyatt Outdoors, heat treated CM, center feed. Attached are photos and the target of the first five shots from the Black rifle.

Reminds me of "The Twins" built a few years ago by Chris Matthews for Ric Horst and a buddy of his. A pair of 7mm WSM's that worked out great as long range hunting rifles...

Nat - I've chambered three 284 bbls. for my own rifles; your results reflect the excellent accuracy I've seen out of this cartridge in all three of these bbls. - Bartlein, Krieger, & PacNor, all 1:9tw. The PacNor is a 3-groove, while the other two are 4-groove.

I've always thought the 284 deserved a 2nd chance, since in its original form, it was severly handicapped by being offered only in short action rifles. Glad to see that it's finally getting some of the recognition & attention it deserves.
