Anyone else had an issue doing business with Timney?
I ordered a Timney replacement trigger for my Remington 700 directly from Timney's website August 31. I received the wrong model trigger today and called Timney.
I explained my problem to the first Timney representative that told me I needed to talk to a different representative and the representative would call me in 5 minutes. I waited 30 minutes and called back. The Timney representative who answered the phone first told me the representative I needed to talk to was on the phone and asked me if I wouldn't mind a call back. The representative I needed to talk to suddenly came available when I started to explain who I was and what the problem was...
The Timney representative explained that I should not have been able to order the model trigger I ordered on the Timney website. "That was a nice trick", were the agent's exact words as he further explained that the program the web sales folks use changed my order when it transferred to the shipping folks program.
I was told I could return the trigger and Timney would send me the correct "Special Order" trigger once the return was processed. The second option was to wait for a part from Timney to arrive, remove a couple parts, install a new part and adjust the pull weight on my own.
I'm taking option 3. The trigger is going back to Timney for a refund.
Here's how I see it...
I order an un-orderable part from a manufacturer's website with specific features and settings. The manufacturer immediately takes my money. = Manufacturer's mistake and problem.
Manufacturer ships the wrong part with the wrong settings and then offers to send me parts to alter their product. = Manufacturer trying to fix their mistake by making their problem my problem.
I ordered the Timney model 510N (product has a bottom safety) factory adjusted for 1.5 pound trigger pull because I did not want to alter the trigger I own.
Bottom line is I'm disappointed Timney made no apology for their mistake and would not own the mistake. I have a rifle with no trigger, so no rifle to take to matches this month.
Just disappointed.
