The shooting world lost a good guy today!

Another one of those moments in life, when you wish you would have took more time, said more things, traveled more miles together. Today the shooting world lost a good man, a great friend, almost like another father figure to me.
Gene put up a fight to the end, but he finally gave in this morning at 7 a.m. and went to rest.
Gene has been a big reason, the valley existed, he was there from day 1, from construction , to matches, to just hanging out with my family for the past 10 years, we traveled countless miles and never once had bad words, always enjoyed each other's company . I am going to miss his visits to the shop, his enthusiasm to enjoy life, his go get it style, my kinda guy!

I will update this post as soon as arrangements are made.

Gene Ford you will be missed my friend, go get some rest. We will shoot a match again one of these days.60900.jpeg

Tom it sounds like all who knew him will fill the space he left behind with wonderful memories of a beloved friend. I hope you all find peace in that process.

It is so painful to hear of Gene's passing. I met Gene in 1999 at my first 1000 yard match in Aurora, Missouri. He was shooting a Heavy Gun named "Demon" that weighed about 80#. As he was carrying to the bench, I asked him why he shot such a heavy gun. He stated " I feel it gives me an edge" on the competition and laughed. He then voluntarily offered to help me with insights on the game he so loved.

His happy go lucky persona will be sorely missed by many that he touched in his astonishing contributing life.

May God bless him and his family.
