Lost a great young good guy and friend to a shooting accident this weekend

We all have to do our part to keep gun safety at the top of our attention. We lost a great young friend in a hunting accident this weekend here in Texas. So young such a good person and gone after simple hurried hunting safety mistake. Left behind a young new wife great mother and many friends. Keep the muzzle aimed in a safe direction. Its crazy how many people I have seen who should know better do not follow this simple rule. God bless those lost and their loved ones. PG

Sorry to hear of the loss. I'm an electrician and everyone I know, or know of, who has been badly injured or killed was doing something "routine". Good reminders in your post as well.

I was told he handed a rifle to another hunter and aimed the barrel towards himself when the gun fired. Kind of like to pass a knife but a quick easy mistake with a long terrible result for himself his friends and loved ones.

Sorry for your loss. Hunting season is here and I hope everyone remembers to be safe and practice the fundamentals of safe gun handleing. Once again sorry for your loss and may god be with you and his loved ones.

I had an AD in my home once.It was the scariest thing I have ever had to deal with.I must express my deepest sympathy for the family and friends of this poor soul who was taken from us so young.I hope his family is getting the right counseling to learn how to deal with such an event.

Gun safety can never be stressed enough. I think gun safety should be taught in school and situations addressed as to what can happen if found or used in an unsafe manner.

The funeral is tomorrow. It is really embarrassing when you have an accidental discharge but its a terrible tragedy when the muzzle is not aimed in a safe direction. Rule # one regardless of anything else don't aim it where it will kill/injure someone or yourself unintentionally. So sad.

Please express my condolences from the jon lennon family in rochester,ny.I will pray for the family.

Sorry for the loss. Our rifle season is about to start in a week or so and you always hear of someone gitting killed or shot by mistake.

That is horrible.
We had a an 11 year old shoot his Dad at a local pheasant club this weekend. Died instantly.
So many people are so careless.
I have been very careful who I hunt with after a really bad experience when I was in my 20's. I was pig hunting with coworker and he shot the landowners' burro thinking it was a hog. Since then I have been really careful.
Firearm safety is nothing to be taken lightly.

On Tuesday night a J*ck*ss on the radio was shooting off his face calling our late friend an idiot said his action was illegal and he didn't deserve any sympathy since he shot himself being careless. How do people think they know it all just because they have a microphone and a few hours a day to fill. It was Greggo on 105.3 the fan FM here in DFW. I heard him telling death stories again yesterday on the way home I guess its a habit for him. I am not one to throw stones but I think Greg Williams checkered past and recent history should make him think before he speaks about something like this. I was shocked had to pull the car over and try not to loose it. Greg Williams called him by his middle name and mis-pronounced his last but it was clearly the same accident he was foolishly speaking of like he had video and the FBI report on it. Today would have been Clinton's 29th birthday he was a fine person and deserves respect and sympathy especially to his beautiful young widow, spectacular mother and family.

yep sorry to hear about the loss of a young life. the fact is that this sort of thing happens every year!! I was shot once while rabbit hunting. The beagle ran the rabbit right in front of my buddy and unfortunately i was just across the tracks in his line of fire. It stung and drew a little blood, and it broke the left lens of my safety glasses. I always wear glasses when shooting and its a dam good thing. My buddy was all excited about hunting behind such a good dog not to mention he had never rabbit hunted with any dog before and he wasn't thinking! It happens!!! Lee

My deepest sympathy goes out to all who were impacted by this. My relative was inadvertently shot in the leg by a friend who was breaking down a handgun to clean it. His friend has practiced with and carried this particular sidearm for years and still managed to make a simple mistake. Accidents affect us all when we hear about them. Thank you for reminding me to be as safe as possible. May God bless and keep your friend and his family.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. He will be missed dearly by many and everyone concerned is in my prayers! Thank you for the reminder of the potential dangers of handling firearms in an inapprapriate fashion! I can't lie though, I'm guilty myself and just have been very fortunate that nothing has happened. You have given us all something to think about! Thanks again!
