The same, but different

I recently went to a slightly faster, denser powder in a 6.5 wildcat to get away from a compressed load. My original seating depth (.015 jump) was not getting the job done, so I ran a new test on the 140 vld I was using. I decided to use the Berger recommended method and found, to my surprise, that the .050" jump was shooting into one hole @ 100 yds. Same bullet, same velocity, but faster powder = significant seating depth change.

I was thinking (don't laugh) that the same bullet, running at same speed, would have the same, or at least close, seating depth relationship. Well, the test showed me that I was wrong. Am I correct in assuming that it was the difference in the pressure curve caused by changing powders?
