I have a good friends son who owns a Browning A Bolt rifle. It is a 300 Win Mag and has significant recoil. The father asked me to put a Muzzle brake on the rifle. Over the years I have heard horror stories about folks trying to remove barrels on browning rifles and cracking or warping the receiver.
Before buying a $83.00 A bolt Action wrench from Brownells I though I would call Browning and ask a few questions.
I asked if Browning A bolts actions were manufactured by the investment cast process.
The Browning reps response was that information is propriatary and they can not divulge the method in which their action is made.
I asked if the new action threads were 20 tpi like the older actions or 32 tpi. I asked what year did they change.
Again the Browning representitive said that information was propriatary and they can not divulge the information I was asking about.
I joking asked if it was true they used glue to hold their actions together.
Again the rep said the information being requested is propriatary.
This is why gunsmiths don't work on their actions.
This is why no one makes aftermarket accessories for their rifles.
This is why their new tactical rifle is going to be a poor seller.
