SELLING The new T-Rex front rest by Rodzilla Shooting Products

Would this rest support a 40 lb gun (my 50 BMG Competition Rifle)?

Also, will you ever be making a top that could utilize a 5" to 5 1/2" Slide on a stock?

Good questions:
My rest will adjust out to accept a 5-1/8" wide forearm.

The short answer to the 40lb support is yes.

Here is the long version:
You are actually asking about counterbalancing a 40lb rifle. On my 21-22lb F-class rifles I have roughly 15lb of weight on the front rest to counterbalance. This amounts to 68% of the rifles weight up front so for a 40lb rifle you should have around 27lb to counterbalance. However, the length of the forearm and the actual balance point of your rifle will have an effect on these numbers. if you place a scale under the point of contact of the front rest you will be able to determine the exact weight we will be dealing with. My counterbalance design utilizes up to 4 springs and for my 15lb (a standard F-class rifle) I have two springs compressed at 80% and one at about 10% so by using all four springs available and compressed just short of coil binding (maximum counterbalance available) I would be able to go well beyond your 40lb rifle. Also there are stronger springs I can use to take it these numbers up even higher.

Any joystick type rest needs to counterbalance the rifles weight with either springs or a cantilevered adjustable weight ( like the Mike Ratigan style) or the joystick will be pushed to bottom of its travel once a weight is applied. However Internal friction will mask this to some extent so it can be very hard to actually achieve a proper counterbalance as the joystick might hold position from friction even if the balance is off by anything less than the amount of friction in the X-Y mechanism. Under recoil this friction can be overcome and the rest will drop down or jump up if underbalanced.
My design has very little internal friction as I use linear ball bearings so you can adjust for the weight of the rifle very accurately. Also you make the adjustments while the rifle is setting on the rest. This counterbalance issue has bothered me over the years with the various rests I own and have used. If you want to see what I am saying just back off the tensioner knobs on your coaxial rest removing the internal friction and see where the joystick goes when you put your rifle on it. With the counterbalance springs under the sand bag they are not accessible without removing the entire top for access. but this is the only way to get even close to a neutral balance. and every gun is a bit different so you end up with a compromised of balance and disguised with friction.
Guys I am not picking on anyone's rest just trying to explain what I have learned and why I designed mine the way I have.

Currently I’m at Eight weeks. I have a new 5-Axis CNC machine ordered that will double our output. That machine is still about 4-5 weeks out. I am trying to cut down on the wait time.
Mine Should be Coming,Don't rush it ,the new improved version is in my sights.
Thanks

I have tried every joystick on the market with the exception of a lenzi. I have not been satisfied with any of them but you have raised my my eyebrows with yours.

I’m absolutely digging mine and the help I’ve received as far as technical assistance has been incredible. I’m not a machinist or a mechanically inclined individual, and Rod has been incredibly helpful and gracious with all of the many, many questions I’ve had. He’s got an ability to water stuff down for folks like me that’s amazing.

The rest itself is beautiful. The machining is sharp, the coating is durable thus far, and it is ultra-smooth. The only rest I’ve shot on before this has been a mini, so take from that what you will. I love my mini. I’ll likely keep it as a backup. It’s a good bit smoother than a mini, however. Being able to adjust vertical as sandbags settle is worth the price of admission for me. It’s sort of like the fine adjustment on a Sightron SVSS ED. You don’t know you need it until you try it out.

Great product. Great company. Thanks, Rod.

I placed an order for Rod’s top for my Neo in the third week of May. Rod called me the next business day to communicate expected build and delivery time. That was a nice touch. I received my top earlier than expected by Mid June and using videos from @Hotrod6.5 and @F Class John I had the new top installed in 10 minutes. At the range, I shot my F-T/R .223 using Rod’s new top and my 6mm BR back to back. Results were great. No more mounding of sand in the middle of the bag, scope level stayed perfectly level throughout the string of fire and tracking in the bag remained consistent and true. Can’t wait to use it more.

.223 Results:

6mm BR Results (I turned the scope knob the wrong way on the first record shot):

Thanks @Hotrod6.5 for a great upgrade!

A bump up for current lead times.
Guys, I’m still running around 60 days. I build in batches of 15 to 20 units. With every run I get a little more efficient. We recently purchased a new 5-Axis Haas 500SS milling machine to build the major components that make up the bridge. This machine is amazing but took some time to tool up and program. I am hoping by the end of the year to have inventory on hand but I’m not quite there yet. Rod B

Pleased to announce Rod contacted me just over a week ago to inform me mine has shipped - should be the 3rd T-Rex to arrive in Australia and very much looking forward to receiving and trying it out. Once again, Rod's customer service and communication can't be faulted so if anyone is thinking of taking the plunge, buy with confidence!

I see some of the advantages of this rest for f class. How will this rest help with benchrest over the seb or farley?

So what I am gathering from the fact that no one has responded to the question I asked, is that this rest doesn't help BENCHREST shooters in anyway over what a Seb or Farley will do! I am just trying to decide if i want to buy one.

I've only shot benchrest a couple times but I can only assume that its ability to resolve your movements much smoother than most rests could be an advantage not to mention the field of view it allows for. He was also working on a vertical lock that allows for creating a vertical stop for the joystick that keeps you on a single plane once you set it. I'm not sure where he's at on that part but I know the concept is solid.

Thanks for the response.
