The new Scenar "L" bullets

Hey guys, I am considering trying the NEW 6mm, 105 Scenar "L" bullets. They are considerably more $$$'s than "regular" Scenars. Question: "Has anyone tried these AND do they perform "enough better" to pay the extra price for them"? They will be used in my 6mmBR should these new bullets be deemed good enough to try.
Thanks.....

Hi Ben,

I may not be a totally unbased observer here, but I can give you a quick rundown on the new Scenar Ls. They are exactly the same as our standard Scenars in shape, weight, BC, etc., but are run to an even higher level of dimensional QC standards. For those who spend a good deal of time sorting by base to ogive, or other measurable dimensions prior to loading, you'll find that these will save you wuite a bit of time. Some of our original testers when we introduced these were some very demanding F class shooters. I had several report back to me that after doing their regular QC program (which they did to sort bullets prior to loading), they abandoned it as a waste of time with the new Scenar Ls.

There's always something to sort, and just where that line may be drawn depends on the individual shooter. For most shooters, our Scenars can be loaded and shot with excellent results right out of the box. Some will want to sort them a bit further. In the case of the Scenar Ls, that's already been done for you, and to a level beyond what most shooters will cull to. The downside, as you've noted, is that they cost more. That's an unavoidable fact of life when you start raising QC levels like this. It means you'll produce more rejects, have to maintain tooling to a much closer degree (and as a result have higher tooling costs) and have operators that keep that much closer of an eye on the production. But the end result is a more refined product. Whether the added costs are justified depends on the end user, and the particular level of shooting he's striving for.

Hope that helps, but be happy to discuss anything about these bullets further with you.

I have shot them with great results. As soon as my "other" lot of bullets run out, the Scenar L's will take their place. Their very accurate.

I wish Lapua would produce a 30 cal L ;)

Thanks Guys... I appreciate the input.. My 6mmBR has about 17-1800 rounds thru it. During the spring next year I am putting on a new Broughton 1-8 twist on it.. I will FIRST try the 105 "L"'s and am quite sure that is where i will stop too!! I also have a 6.5 X 47 Lapua and shoot 139 Scenars thru it>>>>I would like to see a 139gr. "L" too.. If the 22 and 6mm Scenar "L"'s sell well, I am quite certain that the "L"'s will be extended thru all the lines.. At any rate, I do appreciate y'all's input..

yeah my centerfire cartridge also worked with satisfiable amount of rounds, plus got to know new piece of information in this thread. :)

DennisH,

Not to worry, and you're perfectly correct in guessing that the L series will extend across the Scenar line. Just takes a bit of time to get everything up and running, since these are actually made on a different production line. But yes, the 30 cal Scenar Ls will be added to the catalog shortly. Looking forward to trying some of the 155s in my Palma gun myself!

Kevin, I will be happy to see the L's for my 308.

I can't wait to try them out, let us know when their available.

Dennis
