The MIGHTY 6.5 Creedmoor

Think so? Not so sure about that. Some will always remain committed to what came before and I'd agree that a 6.5x55 does not loose much to the newer calibers like 6.5x47, 260, 264, 6.5 Grendel or 6.5 Creedmoor. The interesting thing to me is that these controversies do not exist to the same degree when it comes to the 6br variants. Should another 6br variant be introduced by a major industry player I would not be surprised to find controversy erupt. As with many things in life, when something new is introduced, someones ox just got gored.

It's just a cartridge, there are many to choose from and more being developed all the time. Many are similar to cartridges that came before but the interesting thing to me is some of you guys can't seem to let it go and years later are still carrying on like your wife dumped you for a newer model.

Now the emotions are surfacing. What I find particularly fascinating is how seemingly innocent caliber bashing rapidly degrades into cancel culture tactics being employed within our little community against others within the same community. Fascinating study in the psychology of personal preference. Edwards Personal Preference Schedule to be exact. The real question of course is what needs are being met by those who employ these cancel culture tactics? Perhaps those caught in the cancel culture trap could enlighten us with respect to the needs being satisfied when they engage in those tactics.

This is the post where you show everyone that you're that really just trolling it up because those that bashed the cartridge before you got a lot of traction with their Creedmoor bashing thread.
If your thread here is not just an attention grab and the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge has truly hurt your feelings that badly you have to let it go before it gets any better.

I don't care. I've had so many different cartridges over the years that I have no emotional attachment to any one in particular. Clearly that is not the case for many. Hence the root cause of any particular cartridge bashing.

I do enjoy the mighty 6.5 creedmoor but then I enjoy a wide variety of cartridges. This thread was intended to see what the reaction would be if a 6.5 creedmoor won a match against other much loved cartridges. It did in this instance. But then it lost against a 6 BRA the weekend before (left my 6 BRA at home that weekend) and it has lost against a 284 and 6 Dasher in the past. Any given Sunday as they say.

That said, it's not necessarily the cartridge that wins. It only provides an edge and there are a number of cartridges that have an edge over the 6.5. We have very stiff competition up here in WA. Last year alone one of them won the Berger Nationals mid-range and another won the long range. I'm under no illusions. Had one of them showed up with their 284's I would likely have been out of the money following the first string. The guy that was shooting the 284 in this match is also a very good shooter who is arriving in Phoenix for Nationals just this afternoon. He was still sorting out his rifle trying different loads in each of the strings. Had he had his load nailed down and some practice with it, he would have probably handed me my arse. I'm OK with that.
