The highest velocity rounds that are 6.5mm caliber or larger!

What is the highest velocity calibers 6.5mm or larger. Wildcat rounds included. I know there is a few .22 caliber wildcat rounds that reach or pass 5000 fps. But how about the big boys? I hear the .270 RUM is fast. Please post the round and ballistics.

OK i will start it off...not because i think its the fastest but i think its interesting. OBTW Barrel life is a little less than optimal
i be t a 6.5x (338 LM) would crush something (bullet dusting?) this should be an interesting thread.

The largest case necked down to the smallest cal you will be happy with shooting the litest bullet in that cal. will be the fastest. If your wanting a good long range gun forget the fastest and shoot high BC bullets, heavy for cal. I am pushing 70 gr. bullets from mu 6-284`s at 3,750, but if they shot the 107 gr. bullets accurately I would be much happer even it they are alot slower. I have a barrel comming that I plan to chamber in 6 mm - 300 WSM. It will have a 7 twist and should reach out and hammer coyotes. There is also 1 big problem with with super dast rounds and that is you have to find a bullet that will hold together at those velocitys. I have often seen a blue streek where the bullet came apart just out of the barrel.

I think the 30 cal /50bmg sabot is one of the fastest at some ridiculous speed above 6000 fps. I saw a write up in guns and ammo or some magazine like that about it.

My 22/6mm AI with 75 gr AMax's, launched a hair under 4K are rather fun. You see dust in the scope before recoil (depending on distance shot). Or, in other words, at 400 yards, prairie dog has not returned to earth before you are back on target.

Could not imagine something faster.

I read in This forum about a 300WSM shooting 110gn pills at around 4000fps.

according to VihtaVuori reloading manual the .308 shoots the Lapua ALS 57gn at 3993fps, so it should be possible to get even more velocity since the manual is quite conservative on the max load....
