The good old days.

In the process of remodeling my reloading room, as a winter project, I came across quite a few pieces of nostalgia. Thought I would share two, that I found interesting if not significent. Perhaps a few of you may even recognize the three gentelman holding the trophys.20170112_135402.jpg 20170113_152121.jpg

Leslie Edelman's sure brings back memories.
Wonder what a 40x goes for these days. I'm guessing it's a few bucks more than
Chuckhunter: I absolutely miss Edelman's on Rte. 309! Your sales ticket sure brings back some great memories!!

Bought that 40X on grape street in Allentown, that was back in the day when most of my business went to Army & Navy store across the street.

FINALLY CRP.jpg A Remington 40X Targetmaster from the custom shop (I think the only way you can get a 40X these days) has a MSRP of $2,895.00 with a 40X Trigger. Add $150 for a Jewel. The Remington Custom shop is now a division of Dakota Arms, owned by Remington since I believe 2006.

Got this one last year in 6mmBR Norma. They put a Kreiger 1:8 Twist HV Contour Barrel on it.

That is exactly how I acquired this gun room, great minds think alike.

I spent many hours at the Guthsville range back in the late 70's trying to put all 5 shots in one hole with factory rifles. Yup, it never happened. Several times when I was there, these 2 guys would show up with these strange looking rifles with high gloss stocks, yellow, red, crazy colors with short fat barrels and eventually they started putting these crazy poles with spinners ( I had no clue at the time) on top out on the range. These guys, I later identified from pics in PS magazine were Lester Bruno and Gary O'Cock who are native to this area.
Eventually, I got introduced to IBS Score competition by a neighbor, Roger Gower, and in time I eventually learned how to shrink groups in a consistent manner.
Never had the good fortune to meet Guy ( a well reknowned Hunter Class shooter) . Denny (the first to shoot 25X's in IBS Score, actually did it twice, once in HV, once in LV both Remington XP's IIRC in 6 PPC) still runs the Bowmanstown Score shoots. Dave -aka flyshooter- is best known for his wallet sized laminated targets with fly kills.
Chuck, around the time you got that 40-XB, I also was in the same Army-Navy store looking for same, but I just couldn't pull the trigger (i.e. I was too cheap). You got 20 years on me in the BR game , and I'll be forever jealous that you got to experience the golden years here in the N.E., meeting some of the best competitors and characters the game will ever see.

I am so interested in seeing pictures of your new gun room when finished. A pedigreed cabinet builder should make this room pop!

I am sure it will be nice. Knowing you, it is sure to be great. Matt

You give me way to much credit Matt. At least it will be clean and organized. I can't
believe the amount of stuff that I accumulated over the last forty years and it was all stuffed into a 9 X 14 room. Hope you're having a good winter, look forward to seeing you in the sprig, at Williamsport.

Knew Dennis Collins as a score competitor. We went head to head at the Bud Pryor one year. Had bad thunderstorms saturday afternoon @ 200. My buddy, "Humble Henry" Rivers & his relay got just about blown off the firing line by a down burst, then it was our turn in a heavy downpour. I figured it out & was staying clean, then chickened out on the hold point and dropped a point (by only a few thousandths), Denny didn't drop any points & won the match with a 750-?X plus one or two world records. My mistake in judgement cost me the match and two world records since I had several more X's than Denny, but it is SCORE shooting ya know. Dennis is also the only person to shoot 250-25X perfect scores in both HV & LV with a 6PPC. A great shooter & a great guy, too.
