We were shooting bows practicing with her for this year... she said "you need to build me a rifle, one thats mine to target shoot and hunt with"....

A free chance to build another rifle!! Winner haha! I get just as much enjoyment piecing together parts building a rifle as I do shooting em!

I'm thinking about doing a trued rem 700 7mm-08, remington varmint contour with a with a brake on it... Good all around caliber, has good ballistics, able to get some good bullets in 7mm, help with the knock down power some over what she grew up shooting deer with (222). It shouldn't have any recoil with a brake...

I guess I got a new project to toy with..

Just as a note, I put a brake on my 11 pound 7-08 and it did nothing that I could feel for the recoil, but the muzzle blast became painful, even with muffs. And that was with a 23" barrel. Just something to consider. I don't think there is enough gas with the 7-08 to really have an effect on recoil.

Ding ding ding ding.....

At least she wants one of her own, and not one of yours !

My girlfriend told me she wanted a pistol of her own. What she wanted was my Novak built Browning Hi Power...
-Maybe some day, but not that day !

I was fortunate, when my wife wanted a pistol, it was the pink gripped Bersa thunder that was in the store....I put the black grips on it as soon as we got home.....

OK, so here's what you do. You take one of yours that you're not that happy with, send it out and have it painted HOT PINK. Meanwhile, build yourself the best you can. When your new one comes in, swap it out for the pink one and give her that. You'll both be happy!

If it was me, I'd build separate rifles for carry hunting and paper/bench.

That music is always sweet to hear.

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were in BPS near Kodak, TN. and she picked out a hand gun she wants : I said which one she said, the pretty one, it was the nice shinny compact Kimber.... She loves to hunt and fish, also a heck of a good Bow shot... ;) While I was reading this she comes in all excited saying I just saw 2 Does, 2 nice Bucks a smaller Deer then a couple hundred yards further down the road a big one ran across the road in front of her. We'll call that one Flash... She takes after her Mom.

They always do that when they are your fiance, thats how they get you to tie the knot ;D

Ive heard that from every married guy... women are evil.... sneaky evil to get what they want...

This is not always true, at least in my case it is not. I've been married 34 years. I've been on a 6 month vacation since June 6th. Come the middle of August I'm heading out to my property in Sweetwater,Wy. then just go from place to place and head back home when the snow starts to be a problem. She lets me do things like this every year. Oh yeah, forgot to memtion that she will be working. Before we went to bed lastnight one of the last things she said was - I need to get my bow out and practice, the same with her rifle, and she wants buckshot for her shotgun... She's ready to get this hunting season started. And out of her handguns her favorite is her Model 66 4" .357. No she did not get the Kimber, she just got a Sig 226 late lastyear. We talked about the Kimber lastnight and it may be in the near future for her.
