"The Blast" 2023, 6 rifle balloon shoot

just a question???
How many custom action folks make 5000 actions per year??? Not sure even Borden, Bat or Kelbly make 100 actions per week????
stan

Semi Custom Class – Shoots Saturday
 Gun Manufacturer must produce at least 5000 firearms per year
 Manufacturer must produce the actions for their firearms
 Manufacturer may use aftermarket stocks, triggers and barrels
 Guns may be single shot or repeater and must be .308 caliber or smaller
 Weight limit of 25 lbs.  No clamshell breaks are allowed
 Guns from the Custom Gun division of any major manufacturer are allow
We added this class for all of the shooters that had semi custom rifles from manufacturers that used aftermarket triggers, stocks and barrels etc. Companies like Springfield Arms, Christensen Arms, Remington custom Shop etc. These guys make their own actions but use components from other suppliers in their finished product. Previously these guns were restricted to Tactical or Unlimited classes, now they have a class of their own.

Different from Last Year, when we were in our first year of the Blast, we have designated many of our sponsors items to be sold in a Silent Auction. We also have many of our donated items that will be distributed through a raffle ticket system. All of the proceeds from these designations will be given, equally to Resilient Warriors, a nonprofit organization helping our veteran’s find a place to live, The other half of the proceeds will go to Freedom Hooves, a therapeutic riding center that helps handicapped people gain extra mobility through the motion that riding a horse creates.
We continue to add to our list of items but a AMP Annealer, a trip to the Whittington center for four people, unrestricted shooting on any of their ranges, accommodations while you are there, and a concrete bench of Whittington Center design. A case of SK .22 Ammo. And we will add a lot more as the time gets closer.

Very interested.

Clamshell brake is a new term to me. What is the definition of one?

Bipods?
Rests?
Tactical class has to have a bipod. All other classes can use rests, bags or bipods. A lot of tactical PRS shooters used bipods in all classes.

I am as excited about this as a 8 year old approaching Christmas.
I am so happy to have learned about it, and it's only an hour and a quarter from home.
I won't be a contender, but without losers like me, there can't be winners!

Edited to add: My auto spelling changed losers to lovers.
I almost let it ride, much funnier.

Don’t be so quick to discount your potential. As Jim stated to earlier, all different disciplines have a chance. That’s a big part of the appeal to me. I’ve about convinced myself to leave my benchrest stuff at home. Getting from target to target quickly and rounds off in a hurry when you’re on it is at least as important as ultimate benchrest accuracy, probably more. Plus, I’m better spotting my shots with a good cheek weld and firm hold. You want to see your hits & misses.

In the above post there is a list of sponsors. Here are some new additions. Ruger, Conco construction, Cross 1st Bank, Protektor Model, Holland Shooters, Parks Motor and ICI Insurance. All the sponsors have really donated some great product.

We have 80 entered already and several more in the works. It is sizing up to be so much fun. We will also have a 3 man team competition, which will be at no extra charge. Each team members scores will be averaged so it will not matter how many classes are entered. There will also be a Sporting Clay tournament on the side. There are still a few on site hotel rooms available and several camper spots with electrical and water hook ups. Lots of shooting, good food and drinks and great friendships. Come join us.

We have received a few phone calls concerning the muzzle brakes. As far as our rules or concerns, any of the cylindrical designs with multi ports will be allowed. The Brakes that you see in PRS or Tactical matches will be allowed as well. Our concern is the big 30's with a brake similar to the one shown here. Hope this helps and as always, please feel free to call.

Factory class...I have a New Savage tactical something or other 6.5 PRC ( the only "factory " gun I own) I bought new last year and the BBL came threaded for brake/suppressor. Can I add add a brake/suppressor in this class?

Thanks,
Tod

A Savage brake would be acceptable. No aftermarket products please.

Getting close. Better get busy loading ammo.

My buddy's 6.5 Creedmoor RPR purchased at last year's Blast auction shoots better than it should. It'll be fun having that back at the scene of the crime, poppin' balloons in the Factory Class. We'll be bringing a lil donation for us all to enjoy, as well.

Looking forward to it!
