The beauty of wood...

I'm supposed to pick up a new stock for my wife Lisa's 600 yard gun next week at the Palmetto score match.
I've received a few in progress pics that are incredible and this pic today.
The stock is a pretty decent piece of Turkish walnut and we wanted something different to set off the butt plate so ended up going with a piece of Spalted Maple that I had been waiting to use for just the right project.
Anxiously waiting for next weekend.

The beauty of natural wood and stone is underpasses by anything man made. If the rest of the stock is close to the butt plate it will be spectacular. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

Benjamin,
I wanted to wait until I get it and let everyone see the quality of the work that he put into this stock.
You might know him as a " Tent City Short Bus Mafia "member.
He is just now going full time making stocks and chambering and will be covered up when people see the quality of his work.
Maybe he'll see this and post the pics he sent me otherwise I'm counting the days until I pick it up.

Since Dave has given the go ahead for me to post a couple, here’s the side shots. I’m no Bret at the finishing, but he’s trying to help me out from the other side of the country and I appreciate that immensely! Thank you David and Lisa for the opportunity, I sure hope you love it as much as I have making it.

I was sorry to hear Roy Hunter was getting away from making stocks but at least we have a equally and credible stockmaker in @WillyTP Todd Paseur.
His work is impeccable and attention to detail unsurpassed so his timing to get into this is spot on.
He has done several for the score shooters and a couple for the group shooters and they all seem to be winning with them.
Definitely contact Todd if you're looking for a new stock or any chambering work.

Yes love spalted wood any kind weather it's oak or anything else.
Extra cool have a few spalted pin oak custom knives scales.
Looks good!
