The amazing 200 yard group by the late Tom Libby

Tom Libby was more than a great shooter; he was a great person. He had time for everyone. He treated everyone the same. It didn’t matter if you were a hall of fame or a new guy who was willing to listen. I think he learned that from one of his closest buddies, Skip Otto. Skip would say he treated everyone the same, poorly.

Tom and Skip Otto were friends and let me add that Skip was the first to shoot a "zero" at 200 yards in a registered match. He did this at Phoenix. I miss both of these men. Skip and I had some great discu…..er, ah arguments. Skip stubbornly clung to certain regimens. He shot 15 twist Shilen barrels in green Panda 10.5# rifles (except for his rail). He did not like 13.5 # rifles. Also, all of his barrels were fluted and that led to some of our greatest arguments. Skip was one of a kind and he is missed. Everyone loved Tom and he too is missed very much. Good shooting...James

Skip once told me at Super Shoot that he was making bullets. He said they were working very well for him and wanted me to give them a try. I agreed and he said he’d give me enough for the next day’s 200 yard HV. He gave me twenty- nine bullets and said that should be enough. Five for each target and one sighter on each of the first four targets. By then I should know where they’re going and I wouldn’t need a sighter on the fifth target. Love that guy.

Just a side note to Tom's "dead center" record group. All 4 200 yard NBRSA groups were broken that year and still stand.
Unlimited, Sporter, light and Heavy. I do believe at least 3 of them were with Lowell's bullets.
Later, Mark

Could never understand how Lowell got any sleep. Everybody wanted his bullets . There was certainly reason for that. We Miss him. Hopefully, Kenny will step into his shoes.
