The 22bra Thread

I thought I would start a thread on the 22 bra since I have several different variations of this cartridge in the works for testing.

I have two reamers now they are both no turn neck. I have a 150 freebore and a 50 freebore. I have the 150 free bore build all put together on a Kauger arms CRS. The barrel is one of my seven twist Wilson barrels.

When I get a few more pics taken I will post my procedure for making the brass. Which is super simple. And seems to work perfectly.

My first loads are for the Berger 90 although I have been shooting the 88 Hornady ELDM almost exclusively in the seven twist in my 223 FTR.

Here is how I make a sizing die for 22 BR ackley. I take a standard Wilson 6BR ackley die and I use a 248 bushing and a Redding expander assembly. I will have the 22 cal Redding expander assemblies available, along with the Wilson 6BR ackley dies.

You simply take your 22 bra die and run your virgin 6BR brass through it with the expander ball in place. I pull the handle twice to make sure the neck is nice and uniform.



I made myself a chamber from a barrel stub for checking bullet overall length to the lands.

As a .22 BR fan I look forward to the "rest of the story". The false shoulder is an excellent way to form brass, and my preferred method! Carry on and keep us posted.

Shot my first load workup yesterday. After I was almost done I realized I forgot to tighten my picatinny rail for the scope.

24.5 was a screamer. Urban rifleman barrel. 22bra 8tw

what velocities are you guys getting with 75gr or 80gr out the 22bra?

ive got a 6bra barrel off urbanrifleman, shoots great. another barrel in 22bra is tempting!
