The 20VT is everything you guys said it would be...Awesome!

Very good info Rick!...Thank you man! Like you... I have had RL-7 on back order for more than 8 months now :-\ and is the very reason I tried H-4198 which was more available. I'm glad to be able to get very good accuracy with either powder for sure. With all that said...I am going to try some AA2200 and just see what my rifle will do as I could get lucky and have one more powder to be able to use as you are aware where we live it's not easy to just go out and find the powder we need :( Seems I'm liking this 20VT so much I would like to make sure I can find different components to make sure I can always be able to shoot this 20VT.....as you said it's THAT good...LOL ;D ;D

A friend of mine has been having great luck with LT-32 and 40g Bergers in his 20VT BR rifle.
Search "Full-up benchrest 20 VarTarg" on Saubier for more info, including some match results.

I've only been shooting the 20 VT for about 2 months now and already have the parts for my second gun ordered and am planning my third gun now. This is really bad. Accuracy that rivals the 6PPC, both my friend and I are shooting 1s out of my gun with 32 gr V-Maxs and 18.5 grs Reloder 7. Easy to find loads that shoot, good brass available, next to no recoil and barrel wear that seems non existent. I can't believe this cartridge isn't a factory load. I think it will be soon. In the meantime I'm burning a lot of Reloder 7 and sending hundreds of 32 gr. V-Max's downrange. These are the good old days

what are the specs on this rifle? it's absolutely gorgeous

That`s a Dakota Predator rifle.

Check them out on thier web site.

Phil is right it's a Dakota Predator. They don't make the Predator anymore. They replaced it with the Varminter. Not much difference in them really. The Predator is based on the Nesika BR action. It has a Douglas XX airguage s/s buttoned rifled barrel and a XX Walnut stock. Dakota makes a seriously beautiful rifle that is a steal when you consider what it would take to have the gun built. They chamber the gun in some very interesting calibers also. The rifles typically shoot 1/4" 5 shot groups right out of the box. The Dakota Predator is my rifle of choice these days.

This is my 6BR in a Montana prairie dog town.

Well, my Cooper M38 20VT can't hold a candle to THAT Dakota wood, but she still looks good in the rat patch nonetheless:

Our rifles don't have to have pretty wood, but it sure makes us smile when they do, right? :)

Could any of you guys post several 5 shot groups in a row out of this cartridge? If it has the consistancy of 1s and 2 s it will be my next build!

Its accurate but there is no rifle that will consistently shoot in the .1 or .2 all the time. If guys say there gun shoots that well all the time I cry bs.

I'll bet there are a bunch of rifles that are capable of .1 and .2 consistency as toby has pointed out with the link. It seems to me it's usually the shooter that opens the groups up... ;) ;D

Lazer. This is the first 4 groups out of my Dakota pictured in the beginning of this thread. I shot them in reverse order, as you can see their numbered, and the gun will shoot 2s regular. You can see that each group is better than the one before and a .217”. group is were it ended up. If this barreled action was in a BR stock and I was using flags I figure there would be as many 1s as there are 2s. And remember most of the groups we are seeing are coming from varmint bullets not dedicated target grade bullets.

FWIW, those who try AA2200 with 32 grain bullets probably need to step it up a bit to get the best accuracy. IMO, 18 or so grains would be a good place to start, but I ended up at around 21 grains in my Dakota with brass made by Adam Bentley. Every rifle is different, so work up from that 18 grain level, but it seems that AA2200 likes to work best at fairly warm loads. I'm surprised that Adam hasn't chimed in on this.

These were shot as fast I could accurately aim, hot barrel and all it's a hammer.

About 3000 rds down the Rock Creek 12"t @ 22"
21gr of AA2200 with 34gr DT bullets, CCI450, LC Cases
4100fps

Basically what ever I pointed this rifle at it died. I have shot everything from Squirrel to Deer with the 20VT and they all died like lightning touched them.

One of last kills was a 145lb doe, put a 34gr bullet between her eyes @ 20yds and it chainsawed her head. Graphic to say the least.
