Thanks,Joe

+1 on that Joe!

I just had the chance this past weekend to finally use the one that Mike made for my new Savage 12 with a Tipton carbon fiber rod and I've gotta' tell ya, it works PERFECTLY!

I went through a 30 shot bore break-in that lasted 3+ hours, and without that Lucas Bore Guide I swear it would have added an extra hour onto that.

The guide itself fit my receiver perfectly - snug as a tight glove - perfectly machined. The o-ring assures for ZERO contamination anywhere past that point. I was just amazed after somewheres in the range of 70+ runs through that guide during that afternoon using M-Pro7, Montana Exteme 50 BMG, Wipe-Out foam and Kroil, not one trace of anything could be found in the cartridge area.

The rod-fitted insert is a perfect fit with the Tipton - couldn't be better. Alignment with breech/bore is perfect - never once did I feel a snag, even when using a new Tipton caliber specific Ultra Jag.

Got pretty good at using it too. Found that when pulling the rod back through the barrel, after removing whatever was attached to it at the muzzle) that it was most convenient to just let the insert follow the rod for a wipe-down and re-attachment of a brush or patch holder. Get the patch/brush started within the bore guide, then run the insert up and into it,feeling for the detent) and proceed with the stroke. Very nice and ultra smooth operation.

And yes, what a simple, painless and pleasurable experience dealing with Mike - had one on the way with a couple of quick e-mails and a PayPal payment.

BTW - Just to be safe, don't ever make any mention to PayPal that the purchase is firearm related or you may encounter problems. Don't even indicate it in the message you can send with the payment. I've read stories...

Thanks Mike!

I finally broke down and had Mike make me one for my new BAT action, and what a pleasure, both in dealing with him, and the bore guide itself.
Now I find the need to get one for my XP's
The fit and finish is outstanding to say the least..

Guys I stock the Lucas bore guides in various calibers and for mostly the 700 bolt family rifles. I do have Mike build the guides for custom actions and wildcat chamberings as well for my customers.
I sell these guides for 37.00 shipped and this comes with the insert.
For custom actions and wildcats allow 10-14 days for delivery most anything else I stock.

I have 6 of them, and I love them.... except the o-rings are absolute junk. They're obviously not made out of a chemical resistant polymer as they start to decay as soon as you start using one..

Like James, I shoot A LOT and I shoot several rifles each day. so my bore guides get a very regular workout. I bought 4 of these from James and the other two from another vendor. I've only had them 2 years and I've had to replace the o-rings twice on each of them.

Kaferhaus, sorry you have had to change the "o" rings so many times in the last two years. Your answer to your problem may be to go with a "Viton" materal "o" ring, which are chemical resistence. But beware, if they get a nic they will tear, and could if you didn't pay attention stay in your chamber, thats the reason i don't use them. I hope this info helps you in your quest to stop replaceing the "o" rings so many times a year. Good Luck, from Mike Lucas,,Lucas Bore Guides).

Mike---I have 8 of your guides and LOVE them!! The ring problem is usually pretty easy to watch as if you keep the chamber clean and rub a little oil on the o ring then no issues. This is the case on my competition guns for at least a year now. If you do not take care of them or have something wrong with your chamber I can see problems tearing o rings. Use a little common sense inserting the guide and then taking it out again and at least for me they work great.:D

I haven't come across anything yet Mike couldn't make a guide for. I've sent him some pretty wild wildcat deminsions to have some guides made for. The Viper and a 30 br I would persume would be a pretty common guide.
If you want one just let me know and I'll get it in the works.
