THANKS. finally bought 6.5 Creedmoor. one more question.....right. HA HA HA

Folks... I want to thank every one who answered all my questions regarding which 6.5 Creedmoor to buy the last few months. I think i have ask every question possible regarding a purchase. ha ha ha ha. I bought a gun that I had not even considered. I bought a used Ruger Varmint 6.5 creedmoor , stainless , gray laminated stock , 28 inch barrel and comes with Ruger rings . It was too good of deal to pass up on. had only been shot 150 times off bench and has verified targets shooting .3 to .5 groups with hand loads and .7 with factory ammo. Gentleman said he just has to many guns in safe and cannot shoot all of them and decided to sale it. He is providing all hand load information he worked up on rifle if i ever want to start reloading ( this will save me a lot of time and money ). So I hope it works out for me. Only thing is the scope mount is built in to the gun so I will need to come up with a scope that I can shoot 1000 yards with for targets , coyotes and prairie dogs. I have some nice high power Nikon Monarch scopes but they don't have travel I need on them to shoot 1000 yards. So I need to figure out if i should purchase a EGW 20 moa rail ( BAD THING IS THE gun will need to be drilled on to put rail on ) or go with a RUGER to WEAVER MOUNT then put Burris Signature Rings with 20 moa inserts on top of the WEAVER mount.
WHAT DO YOU SAY WOULD BE BEST FOR ME ? . Like i say gun was to good of deal to pass up and i new i would have to have a different plan on matching up a scope with this gun. thanks. Martyd

Ruger to Weaver is not a good idea, I used them before and they SUCK

Will not sure if burris signature rings are made to fit this Ruger rifle. Any one have them on this model of Ruger ? If so I guess I am good to go. Martyd

Find a good gunsmith and get it tapped for a rail of your preference. Buy a good picatinny rail and buy a good set of rings. Leupold, Nightforce, TPS, Farrell, etc.

FWIT,
I have Rugers and I've stuck with Ruger mounts because of the concern over drilling and issues others I know have had attempting to make other scope mounts work. Not sure how high a mounts you will be needing, but I have a few extras laying around that I might be able to help you out with.

I went with the Weigand scope mount. $70.00. Should be here by Friday. I just don't know a good gun smith that can drill it with out botching it up in davenport Iowa area. Going to give this a try for. Looks like a nice mount. Martyd
