Texas Fun Shoot Target

I'm a firm believer in not reinventing the wheel and to some this may seem like a lame question but Ill ask it anyway.

On that Texas fun shoot target how are the clays fastened to the board and kept from falling off when one of them is broken?

This does look like a fun target.

thanks,

Ron

Ron, to elaborate just a bit on the attachment. Our board is a piece of fiberboard backing with a piece of coreplast on the front. Then, screws like deck screws or sheetrock screws are installed so the rubber bands can be placed over the clays. On the larger clays, place three screws in a triangle around the clay. For the small clays across the bottom, just put one screw between each clay with one also on the outside of each end. Be aware that shots will eventually hit some of the screws and rubber bands so have some on hand to make repairs. Above all, have fun. Where are you located?

Joe. thanks for the details that's what I need to duplicate what you are doing. I'm in San Diego, CA. Our range is only out to 200 meters so I thought I'd just use mini's and see what happens

thanks again

Ron, there are a couple of variations of the target board here but are mostly shot at 400 yards; ten shots to break 8 clays. At LSSO, the board has three mids, three larges, and two minis. There you shoot off of your own portable bench or off of the ground. Here in Utopia and in Huntsville, we shoot off of permanent concrete benches so our boards consist of one large, two mids, and five minis. At San Angelo, the board has two larges, two mids, two mini's and a target. There, you fire a 3 shot group on the paper target and then have seven rounds to break the six clays.
Here, the rules are pretty simple; .30 cal and under, no return to battery rifles so the rifles are pretty serious. Most are 17 to 28 pound rifles with big scopes. Wind and mirage are big factors at 400 yards but at less distance, even the minis are not small enough. With factory varmint style rifles, 200 meters should provide a good challenge. Email me jeduke at mecwb.com for more details.
