Testing 6.5 prc in AI AXMC - range day

Got some range time with the new barrel on my AI ACMC. Bought a 6.5 PRC from Hawk Hill Custom. Shawn and his group were ideal to work with!
I'm getting 1/2 min at 100 yards during barrel break in. Not shooting clover leads yet, but I'm thinking that will come. At least the group can be covered by a nickel. Shooting hornady 143 ELD over the counter ammo. Not reloading the 6.5 yet.
Very happy with the set up in the AXMC. Very light shooting round. The 300wm magazine handles the 6.5 PRC round perfectly ( something I was concerned about)

It's amazing how accurate some factory ammo can be.

Are the Hawk hill Barrels not hand lapped that you need to break them in ???

I really don't know. I'm just following the instructions supplied for break in. However, it's a really simple process: shoot five rounds cleaning between each round, fire 3, clean, fire 3 and clean.

"Our custom rifle barrels are 4 groove single point cut rifled and hand lapped."

Most of the Bartleins I've used have quit showing copper within the first 20 shots. Schneider barrels also. I don't really refer to this as a break in but it's what has worked for me. The makers who really know how to lap a barrel provide us with the best possible component to start a build with, saving us, the builders, a huge amount of time and effort.:D

I checked hawk hill web site after this was brought up. Yes, indeed it's hand lapped.
