FWIW, I used a narrow ribbon of masking tape and wrapped it around the body of the camera to help center it in the barrel. Then adjust the mirror further inward to maintain crisp focus. Still amazed at the video quality of this inexpensive borescope.

You can get 5,7,8.3,and 12 mm. side view mirrors to put on the Teslong. Keeps the camera centered in each bore that your scoping. Can't remember $20 or $25 from Teslong.

That's something I haven't thought about. Thank you. I have not tried losso. Maybe when the barrel dies I'll experiment some. This barrel looks much worse than all of my others and shoots great, so I haven't been looking to fix it. I definitely wonder what causes it though.

If it shoots good, I wouldn’t try to wear the barrel out cleaning it either.
I found the same thing with my new scope in a top tier barrel. It sure is disheartening.
 
The “bore worms” strongly suggest material inclusion/defect in the raw material. I don’t know what the barrel makers are specifying, but if it doesn’t include a VIM/VAR to minimize such inclusions, they are inevitable.

Low cost bore scopes are a great thing for us as shooters and consumers. I do worry a bit that it will cause us to make big deals out of non issues. Ignorance is bliss if the target satisfies you.

Anyway, I’m hoping we’ll see price reductions from other scope makers as there’s simply very little value to justify a $1600+ scope now.

I've found that after the barrel has a good number of rounds through it, unless I use iosso or jb.. yes. Those black streaks are there even after a good cleaning.

I have 6 other barrels here with varying number of rounds on them and they don't have this. All of them have been exposed to the same type of shooting (PRS) and see the same type and quantity of cleaning.

I too am curious as to the cause, I see the same type of marks in two of my barrels. They are both stainless steel. One of the barrels I can say for sure the marks were not there when new because I looked it over very well before I ever fired a round through it. I noticed the marks after about a year of use.

I believe both barrels are from the same manufacturer. One I bought as a blank and I know who made it, The other is on a rifle I bought and I've heard several times they use the same barrel maker.

If you look into “filiform corrosion” you'll find some images on the web that look very much like these patterns. However everything I've read indicates this kind of corrosion occurs under some type of a coating such as paint, and that it cannot occur on stainless steel.

I think the bore scope makes them look deeper than they really are. I also think they won't effect accuracy. But it would be nice to know and try to prevent in the future. I mean, they can't be good.

I have a brand new Bartlien that has that same look inside of it and it shoots like a house on fire
