Terry...is Wisconsin like this?

I have not been able to get to my shooting bench here in SouthWest Michigan since before Christmas. We have two feet of snow everywhere and the drifts are a lot deeper! It's been so dang cold in the back room I can't even do any reloading (I heat with wood).

It's hard to believe it's going to be time to tap those big maples behind the bench in two short weeks!

We shot 600 for the second Saturday in a row.
Had enough winter. We blew 2ft. of snow away from the benches.
Last week was 0, got up to 3 degres today.

Getting ready for Memphis.

Saw two deer at Lodi today when I was shooting. They just happened through around 800 yards.

Last week we hung up the 4 wheeler twice, this week we blew out that area.
It's not bad out if you are dressed for it.
If you let winter stop you it's a very long winter.
We get 3-4 guys each Saturday.

Can't wait to hear about those Deer.

Actually the heavier snow fall has tracked more south of us this winter. Northern Illinois has gotten more snow. Its been to cold for heavy snow, and Lake Superior is almost all froze over. So there hasn't been as much lake effect snow to the north. I would prefer warmer temps with heavy snow vs months of below 0 temps. Nice picture Bob, but I've seen it before and know better!

Ringostar is right. I can get to the Chicago loop in less than an hour and I am due east of it. We got hit by all the stuff they got and then some from the Lake Michigan lake effect. The Southern tip of Lake Michigan is the one area of the great lakes that did not freeze over.

I could clear out around the bench, and I might be able to trudge through to the 100 yard line to get a target up, but there is no way I could make it through the drifts to get to the 500 yard line, which is the max on my private range.

Maybe it's time to try out Erik's Long range load development at 100 yards, but I think I will wait and see if that rain and 43 degrees forcast for Thursday materializes. That ought to thin out the snow a lot.

You guys should know better than to believe stuff you read on the internet! Snow is not that deep here, we are going to try shooting outside on Wednesday. That photo got sent to me by someone else. Or else those are pigmy deer. Ryan, my aim might not be that good but it is better than yours!

Luckily my wife did not have a camera handy a week ago. A coyote ran thru behind the house and I in my pajamas grabbed a rifle, two shells, threw on my Muck boots and hauled butt across the back yard in knee deep snow to the end of the wood pile. Missed the coyote after all of that. She now calls my PJ's my coyote hunting outfit. Sure is great living in the country.

3 feet plus with no measurable drifting in the woods in central WI around marshfield. Had a 400 yard br shoot at the TNT Grounds 2 Weeks ago. Snowmobile a 100 percent necessity.
