Tennessee Mid-Range Prone & F-Class Regional Regional Results - March 23-24

Hello Everyone,

Attached you will find the results for the MRP&FC Regional held in Memphis this past weekend. We had 31 shooters participate, which was great considering the potential weather conditions. Cold and rain was the forecast for much of the weekend, however we only had to deal with a light sprinkle during two stages of the tournament. Heavy rain Friday and Saturday nights kept the shooting berms and parking areas quite wet and muddy. However, the match proceded efficiently and there were no delays. Only one person got their vehicle stuck!

Saturday was overcast with a little wind that was fairly steady and manageable. The flags were wet and no mirage was visible, but that didn't seem to affect scores too much! There were two cleans in FO at the end of the day with several clean stages and high X counts.

Sunday began with 7 shooters within 2 points of the lead in FO. The very foggy morning broke just at start time. At the end of the 500 yard stage, the overcast skies and calm winds gave way to some sunlight as the high pressure front moved in. Winds quickly picked up with 10-15 mph changes peaking around 25 mph. This began to separate the field a little bit.

At the end of the day, the three category winners were:
F-Open Tim Thompson 899-63x
F-TR Jim Throneberry 884-35x
Prone Douglas Fletcher 892-53x

Once again, several National Records are pending, most notably a 150-14x by Mark Kurtz at 500 yards in FO on Sunday (who topped Tim Thompson's 150-13x on Saturday). There have now been over 100 National Records set or broke on the MSSA range!

I had a great time, in spite of the weather, getting to talk with old friends and new shooters once again. The BBQ was great Saturday evening and there were many awards presented. If you've never been to shoot at MSSA in Memphis, I encourage you to talk with anyone who's been here in the last few years. The range has seen many improvements and we try to run a good match. I hope to see you on the range soon.

Doug

Many thanks to all the folks at mssa for holding another awesome and hassle free match. Doug and JR and Mr. Joe really make it happen. Thanks to Brian Bowling for all the grounds work, clean target backers and greased target carriers. Tight competition this year, seems everyone is getting better each match. Thanks and congratulations to all involved. Tim Thompson
