I agree, I just bought a 44 mag rifle and ordered a 38/357 to go along with my pistols, I already have the 45 LC and a 45/454 so I’ll be covered. I’m running 24 gr. In my 44 pistol but that’s still less powder than most rifles. The 38 should be fun with much less powder4 grains of powder. I’m enjoying getting back into pistol shooting. A pound of powder goes a long way!
Take a look at the 10mm. It qualifies as a “boomer” and only uses 10-12 grains of Accurate #9 powder with a 180 grain bullet in a Glock with an after market 22 pound spring. The recoil is a bit brutal tho, in my older hands.I agree, I just bought a 44 mag rifle and ordered a 38/357 to go along with my pistols, I already have the 45 LC and a 45/454 so I’ll be covered. My two neighbors at the ranch, father/son just picked up 10mm glocks yesterday, I absolutely hate those plastic guns!… I have a Glock 22 gen 4 in 40 but I’m a S&W or Kimber kinda guy. Maybe I’ll pickup a 10 in a heavy frame SmithTake a look at the 10mm. I hear you, but I like the capacity. I’m trying to embrace “diversity” so I bought a few Glocks. My two neighbors at the ranch, father/son just picked up 10mm glocks yesterday, I absolutely hate those plastic guns!… I have a Glock 22 gen 4 in 40 but I’m a S&W or Kimber kinda guy. I hear ya, there well made and function flawlessly I just don’t like when I pull it up it’s never on target, I have to reposition it and that they feel like a toy gun. I actually suggested to my neighbors and my sister to buy them. I’m a Black Hawk, Redhawk , 629 smith, 1911 guy.I hear you, but I like the capacity. My new favorite pistol is an FN High Power in 9mm. Nice solid steel old school pistol.
A kid I adopted loves HKs. Spent time in Germany while an MP in the Army. Won’t buy any other pistol make. Nice guns! I think the only 10mm they make is an MP5 variant. I think there was a Delta Elite model in 10mm.I hear ya, there well made and function flawlessly I just don’t like when I pull it up it’s never on target, I have to reposition it and that they feel like a toy gun. My Sister just recently bought 3 9mm pistols, a Glock, smith and a H&K . The Glock is like all Glocks the Smiths frame is too small for me but is a nice pistol but the H&K is really a nice well made pistol and when you pull it up it’s always on target. I don’t like 9mm’s very well but I might see if they make one in the 10mm

Try 165's in your 10mm it will ease the pain........well just a bit.....LOLTake a look at the 10mm. It qualifies as a “boomer” and only uses 10-12 grains of Accurate #9 powder with a 180 grain bullet in a Glock with an after market 22 pound spring. The recoil is a bit brutal tho, in my older hands.
A good friend of mine has a sig 45 acp and it’s a very nice pistolTry the Sig 220.
I really enjoy my Springfield XDS in .40 cal. Just a great packing pistol that is easy to shoot well. As we have quite a few bears and mountain lions running around the neighborhood. Makes for some exciting walks!I like my Springfield xd in 45 gap. Shoots where I look with the 200 gr gold dot L.E. ammo and my 185 gr xtp loads, powder goes along ways. Feels like superior fp than my 9's or 38/357 125's.
My 686 sits by my bed,…. AlwaysMy all time favorite recreational handgun shooting is my 686 S&W 357.
Load is 7 grains Bullseye, under 125 gr Berrys plated FP's. Snappy, hard hitting, - really clangs the plate. Don't have to crawl around looking for brass, and 1000 shells for a pound of powder. Same basic load and velocity would work with at least a half dozen different powders. Same point of aim from 25-100 yards. jd

My sister just bought a 686 6 shot but I have the 686-P I believe and it’s a 7 shot. There very well built and feel good in your hand. Yes it’s a hard hitting load. Like I said it’s my bedside gun, I’ve never like the .357 round as it’s high pressure load hurts my ears even with hearing protection, when out playing around I shoot low pressure loads like you do or run 38’s through it. I own a large array of hand guns from very small to very large,…. The 38 special is my very favorite for pleasure shooting also I love low powered 9mm through my .357 Blackhawk .Mine's a six shot from mid nineties. Complete with Hillary hole. My first one was eighties right around the first run of that gun.. They are my idea of a real handgun.
That load you're shooting sounds like a handful. jd
