Tell me about your Heavy Gun.

Terry

Gold $$ Contributor
I'm interested in hearing about your 600-1,000 yard Heavy Benchrest Gun.
What do you have? Pics would be great.
What do you like about it? Would you do anything differently?
Is is worth it over a Light Gun?

Any other advice to someone considering a Heavy Gun?

Hi Terry, I definitely believe it is worth having a true heavy gun, mine is a 1.750 bat model b in a 50hbr mcmillian stock with 6" wide steel rail that I made under the front and a 2 1/4" wide plate under the butt of the stock. It tracks amazing, at 1000 it always close to the center of the x ring when I push it back forward.

Hi Terry-

I love running strings with my heavy gun vs. my light guns. It probably tracks
right back on target about 60-70% of the time by just pushing it forward with my shoulder.

I don't have any good pix. handy, but here's one anyway.

BAT "L" 2x10"
McMillan H50 stock
Jewell trigger
Baer tapered base and barrel block
Krieger barrels, 1.730" and 1.450" (w/delrin sleeves)
~56# with the big barrel, ~51# with the smaller barrel.

We have seen two McMillan stocked guns. Where are the others?
I know of at least two home made heavy guns. Any Maxi-Trackers out there?
