Ted Williams Model 73 trigger

Family member has a Ted williams 73 30-06 and wants the trigger upgraded to something more target focused. From my research, it's the same as a post-'64 Winchester Mod 70, but I have nothing to compare it to.

Anyone know what aftermarket triggers will fit it? Or a spring/sear upgrade kit? I really dont want to jack around with honing and polishing the trigger.

Timney makes an acceptable aftermarket trigger for the Model 70 Win. Be aware that any time the trigger is changed on a rifle with a firing pin block safety, adjustment may be needed for the safety to operate properly. Rifle Basix makes an adjustable trigger for the Model 70, also. Top of the line aftermarket for the Model 70 is Jewell. That said, many just change out the pull weight/trigger return spring for a less stiff one. Have you tried to adjust the original? Most can achieve 3# without much trouble. But ya' need to know what you're doing to keep it safe. Several years ago I had one brought to me that had been adjusted by the owners' buddy. He's lucky he didn't hurt himself or someone else. Your Ted Williams 73 is far from a "target rifle" needing a "target focused" trigger. It's a hunting rifle, at best.

I personally think the trigger is acceptable for the rifles accuracy, but I try to help out. Don't want to do the typical gun-plumber dremel job in it, much prefer to make him buy a reputable drop-in replacement jobber. Seems like I need to email timney and rifle basix.
