Technical aspect of Adams trickler system?

just to put in my .02, the stuff it came with has worked perfect for me. I did have to put some paper under the trickler base to lean it back for overshoots, but. how easy and cheap is that. I also use a lee powder dip set like Adam uses on his videos, crazy fast and simple. on a last note, I epoxied 1/2 of a popsicle stick(slit it in the middle so the stick is on edge) to the "handle" of a regular powder pan. makes it fast and ergonomic to use:eek:. good luck and its a great addition to your bench!!!
 
I have been using one for a few Months, I have the 419 thrower stand, cup and auto trickler stand. Thing works great.....very consistent within .02 grains.
I see guys mention using Grams, my math says 100 th's grain is more accurate than 1000 th's gram?....is my math screwed up?

The scale operates in grams, and does a conversion when set to "grains" (or anything else). 0.001 grams is its lowest division, which equals .0154 grains, which the scale reports in 0.02 grain steps.

So there is no increase in precision when operating the scale in grains.

So it would be no gain in going to Grams. I believe it has more to do with repeatability and accuracy of the scale used. .O2 of 1/7000 Is good enough for me and I don't have to convert any numbers. Matt

i'm actually curious about this. I leave my balance powered on. I still check with calibration weight prior to any reloading. most of everything i've read, say that analytical/lab balances should be kept powered on.

mine is plugged in to an APC power surge protector. there's also a ground screw in the back of the FX120, so far i haven't had any static issues that causes drifting.

Right or wrong, I leave my scale unplugged when not in use. I live at 9,500 feet + and lightning is my biggest fear, I have learned the hard way ($$$) that no surge unit will protect against a direct strike so I tend err on the side of caution. I just usually plug it in the evening before I intend to use it, I have not had any issues doing it this way and I do confirm with check weights before every loading session.
 
I also unplug between sessions and plug in/turn on while I am doing other tasks prior to loading allowing a warm up period. I have a line conditioner/surge suppressor that I run mine through but nothing short of a multi thousand dollar suppressor will protect against the Joules generated by a close lightning strike on the supply line. I 'ain't takin' no' chances.;)
